Even as they ran from the fences of Terminus the smoke from the fires made Maggie’s eyes burn, her racing heart drowning out every sound expect the moaning of the walkers like her ability to hear all other sounds had just vanished. They were free, they had survived and made it out of the hell hole that was Terminus, but they weren’t safe, not yet. Not until they had put as much space between themselves and the home of the cannibals as possible. Walkers were still swarming towards the building, either drawn in from the growing fire or simply following the horde of walkers that had already headed towards the building after the explosion. She only paused to stab a walker through the eye when they got too close to the fleeing group, stopping the threat before anyone got hurt.
And then she heard a bark. Some people might claim that all dogs sounded the same, but Maggie knew that bark. Without a second thought Maggie was running, sprinting towards the direction of Summer’s bark as fast as her legs could carry her despite the yells of protest from behind. “Summer!” With all of the walkers nearby shouting wasn’t exactly the smartest choice, it was the only way to let the dog know where she was though. Finding Summer was her main focus. For now, she couldn’t let her hopes get too high, it could just be Summer, the German Shepherd could have followed her scent towards Terminus from the Prison. If she let herself believe anything else and then her hopes got crushed —-It would just be too much. A second bark, closer, much closer. Never in her life had she wanted to see a damn dog so badly.
