Their life felt like a thing of dreams. It was perfect. They hoped it stayed this way.
You can never tell with a legacy though, how long the peace will last.
In the evenings Kala would call a rain storm. It watered the garden, relaxed her and helped Andrew get some much needed rest after a long day at work.
He would wake up a while later, head to the nursery and tend to Brooke. “He little girl. You have a good day with Mama?” Her little coos and attempts to babble brought a smile to him.
After feeding and changing her he’d put her down for nap. They didn’t take long to fall into a routine. He would always look out the window after and see Kala relaxing in the pool. A site he never grew tired of seeing.
Kala, despite her struggles, found great enjoyment in her life. She struggled mostly with her mean trait. It would make her on edge, but she found things to distract her from that.
She had taken up flower arranging as a hobby. Mostly when Brooke slept. She also found that cleaning up brought some form of calm to her. Her favorite times were probably caring for Brooke and then sitting in silence, watching the sun set over Del Sol Valley.
She enjoyed her alone time, especially with her family. It was... peaceful. Something she didn’t see herself ever experiencing. She thought about her talk with Andrew before Brooke was born. She still wanted to get a re-traiting potion, but now she only wanted the one.
The happy couple was finally released from the hospital a few hours later. It was exciting. They rested up as much as they could, grabbed a bit in the cafeteria and then brought their baby home. She was perfect.
Drew pulled Kala into a kiss and just held her. “Look at her, she’s perfect, just like her mama.”
Kala smiled and sighed contently. “Who knew something so small could bring so much pain and so much joy right after.”
They watched her wiggle around and coo, discovering her own hands and looking around in amazement. It was a sweet moment interrupted by Drew himself. “What do you say to having another one?”
Kala eyed him. “I say ask again when she’s old or have it yourself mister.” She laughed him off and they continued to watch her until she fell asleep.
Brooke Alana Pressley has officially joined the legacy!
Things started moving rather quickly after that. Unfortunately it was too late for an epidural. The doctor and nurse wasted no time in prepping her and instructing her on how to get through it all.
Kala held Drew’s hand the whole way through. At times she felt like she couldn’t get through it but then she would hear Andrew whispering in her ears how great she was doing. How much he loved her and how she was an amazing mother. It was all that kept her from losing herself.
Her labor lasted several hours, but at 4:13 in the morning it was finally over. She made it through and was rewarded with a bundle of pink. She was so small and so fragile. All the pain she had just went through was at the back of her mind as she looked down at their daughter. “Hi sweetie.”
Drew melted a little inside as he held his girls in his arms, “Hey baby girl. Welcome to the legacy. Your mama and I are so happy to meet you.”
Kala was out for hours and for a little while they weren’t letting anyone see her while they tried to figure out the situation. Drew took that time to go home, get changed out of his underwear and then rushed straight back.
Eventually they let him wait at her bedside as she slept. When she did wake up she was disoriented and still in pain.
“Drew? Where are we? What’s going on?” She sat up, her head spinning as she did so.
He moved before her and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Shhh. Everything is okay. We’re at the hospital. The doctors are looking into everything right now. They think you may be experiencing some signs of early labor, but aren’t sure. The baby seems to be fine, you may just have low blood sugar, which would explain the collapse.”
Kala took some time to process, but nodded along to his explanation. She didn’t want to just sit around and wait for the doctors so she had him help her up. The pain seemed to come back immediately though.
Andrew held her and swayed with her through the pain. “It’s okay, I’ve got you baby.” He cooed and rubbed her bag.
It was a contraction and an intense one at that. After it passed Kala froze. “Drew. I think my water just broke.”
The panic was starting to sink in for both of them. Luckily they were in a hospital so he was able to help her back to the bed before calling a nurse and doctor to the room.
The next day flew by. They were still waiting on baby to make an appearance. That night Kala couldn’t sleep though. Instead of waking Drew up to make her food or massage her, she decided to take a small walk around the lot.
She was waddling more than anything at this point. Her belly was so big she wondered if it was going to even be possible to have a natural birth. The fresh air seemed to help.
As she hummed some sea shanties to herself and the baby, all of a sudden she collapsed. She was in pain and the wind seemed to have gotten knocked out of her. “Drew!” Nothing.
“Andrew!” She cried as she began to panic.
Drew came rushing out, hearing his wife call his name. “Kala!” He frantically ran out back where he found her laying on the ground, muttering his name. He picked her up trying to reassure her that she’d be okay. It helped for a moment, but then she passed out in his arms. “Kala? Kala!”
She was no longer responding to him, so it was time he rushed them to the hospital.
Time was flying by for them. Kala was just entering her third trimester and could go into labor at any moment. In that time they had made several changes to the lot.
For starters they bulldozed the house they started and moved further back towards the garden and pool. It was still a small house, but they had what they needed. They even added on a nursery.
The next big change was the pool had finally been added in. It was everything Kala had wanted. When her hydration levels started getting low she could go into the pool to fill her needs. It was surrounded by plants from Sulani as well to help her feel more comfortable.
The only other change was of Drew himself. He followed Kala in getting an updated look before the baby arrived. Life was exciting and about to get very busy for them.
Excited as she was to meet their child, she did not like the pain that came with it. Her back hurt all the time and the mood swings were awful. Thankfully, since build the pool, the two were in there almost every night.
Drew held her and the baby in his arms. Hands placed protectively over her bump. He loved this time he had with them. It helped Kala relax and would relieve her of some of her back pain. He would do anything for her and loved every minute of it.
Soon they would have a whole other sim with them. Neither one of them could wait.
