You should look into the communist party of canada my friend. Check out the young communist league while you’re at it. I know the NDP is one of the dominant parties but.. i think you’ll find something you like
I’m aware of them and they mirror a lot of my views more than the NDP does but the party is a mess and has only elected one MP in its history...in 1945.
I may identify as a socialist, but I’m also realistic. There’s no way any far left party is going to get elected under First Past the Post without either a complete 180 degrees flip of public opinion or electoral reform. If more stronger left voices are to have a voice we will need proportional representation, which the NDP is promising.
The NDP can actually get elected and they can actually have the power to immediately enact things like pharmacare and dental for all, strong climate change policies, building thousands of affordable homes and free tuition for all. The communists can’t do any of that because they can’t get elected. They can organize protests and social justice campaigns, and that sometimes works but they don’t have any real political power to enact the legislation they want to see.
If any change is going to happen its going to be with a party already established on the left that can be pushed further left. See the Labour Party in the UK for how this is done and the Socialists in the Democratic Party and running as Independents in the USA. See the socialist voices in the NDP pushing for greater change (Niki Ashton, Svend Robinson, etc).
