but I certainly wasn't going to take his water

I was on my way back from tennis and I came across an alcoholic who has just been out of hospital and was in need of going to the off licence for an alcoholic drink, and I said I'm not letting you do that and I went to get him some water. He refused the water and wanted to buy some alcohol and I told the shop owner at the off licence to persuade him not to buy alcohol and so collectively we forced him not to buy the cans of beer and so he stormed out without anything. So I said I'll buy him a drink and he gave me a £10 note and I bought him a bottle of water. Unfortunately, he was ungrateful for the water, but I certainly wasn't going to take his water. The shop owner thanked me for being so thoughtful and I left with a smile on my face.
