The we used two long screws that go from the bottom of the block through the block and then through the hole for the stake  then a wing nut goes on to hold it in place.  Oh and he spray painted them white to match the tent legs.  So they just end up being like feet on each leg.  They are still a little heavy to carry around but they look much nicer than a milk jug.
