Miraak headcanon: It takes him a while to adjust to "modern" slang, but once he does, he almost always uses it just a little bit wrong/awkwardly.
Dragonborn finds it endearing, any teenagers they adopted? Not so much.

What do you think Miraak would be like in a modern AU?
I have headcannons on this that I promised myself I wouldn’t turn into a story. XD I like to daydream modern!Miraak as a museum curator or researcher, maybe a professor. Mora is his stepdad and even though Miraak hates his guts, Mora wants him to go into the family business of manipulating the world behind the scenes. Which is mostly why Miraak keeps to his ancient history and scholarly ways. He’s still arrogant, but I think the resentment toward Mora and determination not to be under his thumb play a bigger part in his personality than power-grabbing in this scenario.
I’ve thought about a modern AU way more than is healthy, and one of these days I want to draw my mental picture of Miraak in a suit holding an umbrella over a drenched Ysmir at a crosswalk, with the lights all soft and reflecting off the rain and mists. I think he’d be a bit more a gentleman when he has no reason to kill you. XD
tentacle-explosion replied to your post: favourite thing #2 about the Miraak follower: when...
he has separation anxiety, if you shut the door he’ll just bark at it all day
now THAT’S an interesting image

tentacle-explosion replied to your post: ok but that post about NPCs reacting to a naked...
Ok now this makes me want to make a patch that makes Miraak respond to nudity.
DO IT
How about... 12, 13, 22, 34, 38 for Miraak, and 23, 41, 49 for (adult) Darva?
12.What is their favourite food?
13.What is their least favourite food?
Forboth these questions, Miraak is still adjusting to eating and flavors again. Most of the food he lived with has utterly changed thanks to trade and changingecology, and he’s uncertain about it now, especially since he does not actuallyhave to eat. He’s still exploring having this sense again. I can 100% tell youhe avoids calamari.
22.What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or dothey prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?
Miraakwill usually say something scathing right to the person’s face, but he’s likelyto do it specifically for low intelligence or lack of foresight. If he everbitches behind someone’s back, it’s because he’s also doing it to their face.
34.What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body?
BecauseI’ve read some stuff about how proto-Nords and giants were from the same raceof people, I headcannon Atmorans were quite a bit taller than modern Nords, about as much as Nords are to Imperials, really. Miraak was an average Atmoran, but that still puts him in the larger range for Nords. This puts him around6’5”, 6’6” range (while Ysmir is 5’4”, lol [and still taller than me…]). He isvery fond of his body, because it didn’t go Seeker on him.
38.What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?
Theability to make friends and trust those friends. Because of the Dragon Cult,he’s always a little suspicious of overtly friendly gestures (he and Farkasmeeting is a bit of a hoot, really), and is always subconsciously waiting forthe dagger in the back.
AdultDarva
23. Dothey have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Orfaces?
Darvahas a very good memory, except when she’s selective about it. Her training atthe Bard’s College helps her remember names and faces, which she does strugglewith until that point.
41.What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationship?
Darva’ssexuality is complicated, because she follows the dragon side of romance muchmore than either of her parents (that is, she has an actual soulmate, just likea dragon would). She is basically completely uninterested in it all, andoccasionally wonders at it, but mostly she’s relieved to avoid it—at leastuntil she realizes the dream she had as a teenager actually was a real person,at which point she is completely confused, and a bit mad at Mara for a while.Of course, this means she has to meet a new, unrelated to her human with adragon soul, buuuuuut I won’t go into that.
49.What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something theyhave to take everywhere with them?
Darvais so sentimental it occasionally gives her father toothaches, but he can’tcomplain much, since her most valued object is the harp his mother used, whichhe gave to her. And yes, it does go with her practically everywhere.
