NaNoWriMo- Home Stretch Baby!
So I might be able to finish the draft for this bad boy tomorrow. Our current word-count is- obsessed.
This puts Tick Tick in my top 3 NaNos. Not counting the cringe fanfiction from 2018 and loose word collections, my top two are 2020's Monomyth (78,383 words) and 2016's FENmons: Scarlet's Story (62,595 words). Tick Tick will bypass FENmons, while Monomyth gets to keep its crown.
Today, I wrote a pretty intense fight scene. It's surprisingly violent compared to the rest of the book. But considering its place at the novel's climax, it makes sense. Poor Joran has a lot of broken bones, though. Please send him well-wishes through offerings of old video tapes.
Context time! Teosur's soulmate Crilly believes the only good rebel is an enslaved or- preferably- a dead one. Teosur is so blindly devoted to her that he almost beats poor Joran to death. Luckily, (former) mean girl Prillie comes in clutch, killing Crilly and stopping Teosur's rampage. Unfortunately- without his soulmate- Teosur is a nest of fungus waiting to explode. Fortunately, he's agreed to some experimental surgery that may fix this issue.
Also added some stuff with Joran's soulmate, who's kind of a tragic figure in all this. She has No Clue what's going on for most of the story, then gets wrapped up in Crilly's bullshit. Even Joran feels pity for this girl. I also added a chapter from Teosur's perspective to better foreshadow certain things, notably Crilly's behavior.
Tomorrow, I plan to steer the draft into the station by writing the ending. If not tomorrow, I'll complete it the day after. I have that all in notes. Circumstances allowed me to delete a lot of extraneous notes, which will shorten the draft by a fair margin (read- 2000-3000 words. Big whoop). I'll plop the final word count into NaNo's site, celebrate, and finish the month by editing Monomyth.
