I think the biggest issue in trying to treat being trans as an ideology is that trans people are so very very different from one another. You will find trans women who identify as gay dudes, even if they go through surgeries and present as female day to day. There are entire communities dedicated to "HSTS" people. There's no one belief, let alone a system of beliefs, that all trans people subscribe to. It literally cannot be an ideology anymore than my being bisexual is an ideology and I cannot believe this is up for debate at fucking all

I love how terfs will say "hormones are so insanely potent and affect literally every part of your body, making females so so much weaker and smaller than males" then turn around and insist the most easily influenced part of your body isn't sexually dimorphic at all

Terfs have a fun set of behaviours but I think the conflicting ways they act about their beliefs are super entertaining

1) terfs are oppressed and TERF is an anti woman/anti lesbian slur

2) people are lesbophobic by equating lesbian with TERF

3) any rational lesbian should be a terf and if a lesbian isn't a TERF she's probably a closet bihet

4) all males have privilege over all females and thus trans men are always going to be oppressed because society can smell their reproductive organs/chromosomes

5) gay trans men are perverted porn obsessed fujoshis who prey on poor oppressed real gay males and need to keep their icky straight girl selves away from the defenseless gays

6) females are united in our sisterhood and shared female experiences

7) females who don't agree with us are handmaidens of the patriarchy and their personal experiences are just anecdotal unlike our personal experiences

8) trans women benefit from male privilege no matter how far along in transition they are or if anyone can even tell they're male

9) all trans women are clockable instantly to anyone with half a brain

10) these bad cis women who aren't conventionally attractive are actually trans women and no I won't acknowledge when they're proved to be biologically female

11) if you can pass out of transphobic oppression you're not really oppressed but also we can always tell remember

There's a post on my dash where a radfem points out how ridiculous it is for someone to say art of breasts is "terfy", except all the reblogs were from anti terf blogs saying it actually is terfy and terfs have turned symbols like uteruses and breasts into anti trans dogwhistles

And honestly? If you really say shit like that, you're being unhinged.

For one, breasts are not really a major terf symbol. Uterus I can almost understand because yeah, terfs are pretty obsessed with uterus pfp and usernames, but you realize by admitting you now associate female anatomy with being anti trans, you're playing right into the victim complex of radfems AND letting them have ownership of these things.

I made a post ages ago about how I like female anatomy art and wanted one of those knitted sweaters with a uterus on it, and that we need to stop seeing that as a terf thing. But I guess people decided the better direction to go was to blame terfs for the associations they've formed, rather than take a step back, mentally divorce the two, and remember that there's a whole ass world outside of online radfem discourse where being proud of your vagina isn't bundled with hating trans people.

I saw terfs claiming that being trans (as it is currently known) was invented by porn addicts on forums and that any people who lived as the opposite sex historically did so to escape homophobia, as if FTM newsletter didn't exist in the '80s or gay trans men just showed up in the current century or Christine Tayleur hadn't dedicated herself to transgender activism in the early nineties...

The best resource to prove how fucking stupid they are is GLBT Historical Society so feel free to read up on how trans people have always been right there fighting alongside us.
