A little late but here are McDonald's cherry blossom season offerings this year! I tried the Teritama McMuffin (sausage patty + teriyaki sauce + egg + mayo), which was as sickly sweet and sticky as any of their teriyaki burgers, except maybe worse because the processed sausage heightens the artificiality of it all more than a burger or chicken. But I had the idea it would be nice with extra lettuce (from the fridge; there's no option to customize) and it actually was pleasant!

Also split a Sakuramochi Pie, which was delicious! The crispy pie shell goes really nicely with the gooey mochi and smooth azuki bean paste, and the sweetness of the azuki is so nice with the slightly salty sakuramochi. All-around lovely dessert, but every picture I took holding it looked like a dick pic, so I fully expect tumblr to flag this. Sorry everyone for making you look at my sakuramochi dick!

ギガベーコンてりたま // Giga Bacon Teritama Every year during cherry blossom season, they release the limited Teritama Burger (teriyaki + tamago (egg)) and I get all nostalgic for my first visit when I was 16, and how proud I was to be able to order a Teriyaki McBurger for myself (in terrible Japanese). I actually picked one up this year and… wow. The super sweet teriyaki sauce tastes really weird to me now. I’m glad I got the Giga Bacon; the advertised 20 cm of bacon did sound a little excessive but it really helped distract from the sickly sweet sauce. That’s my recommendation if you’re really interested in trying one, but they do have plain or cheese options as well, or… any other burger…
