New alterhuman just dropped
Otherpaws!
Ran across an interesting new identity term on Tiktok and thought I'd share on tumblr-
Per my research, an Otherpaw is an individual who partakes in non-human activities/lifestyle while still (mostly) identifying as human.
This is mostly in relation to Quadrobics, animal masks, alternative clothing, and gear (such as clip-on tails).
There was talk and theories that Otherpaws are a subcategory of Furries. As its similar to the Furry lifestyle, but Fursuits are traded in for the popular "therian" mask. Though others have disputed this, claiming that while it's similar it's still it's own thing.
One thing is for sure, though: this grew out of the therian community on tiktok. Humans wanting to engage in the same activites as us, while recognising that they don't identify as therian. Which I personally think is really neat. A small step forward to being more accepting of not only nonhuman identities but also nonhuman activities.
This is a new budding community and I'm interested to see how it grows and evolves.
