for sparkeater Starscream... how's he feel about the new frame the mutation gave him after the changes have settled?

oh, he's definitely enjoying himself. it feels empowering, to say the least. he's a lot taller now, almost as tall as megatron, and has a bigger, more powerful alt mode to match (envisioned it to be like a cybertronian tu-160). not to mention the new cables, which are perfect for hunting down unsuspecting victims and holding them down so he can get to the delicious sparks inside. it certainly is different, and does take some getting used to (especially around door frames and narrow corridors with the larger wingspan to account for), but he eventually gets the hang of it and allows instinct to guide him into the role of a predator.

I hope he feels better soon :(  and that they start to take better care of him. respiratory infections are terrible, we just had a calf that had a bad infection, it's not a pretty thing to watch

The problem with snakes getting sick that really makes RIs such a huge deal, aside from the obvious, is that they have no diaphragm and only one functioning lung, meaning they literally are incapable of coughing, sneezing or otherwise clearing their airway. The wheezing and popping is just the early stage, afterward comes bubbles and open mouth breathing and literally choking on their own mucous and discharge. It’s ugly stuff in all critters, but I feel like reptiles are especially in danger. And it’s just such an easily preventable thing in this instance. Obviously that’s not always the case. Shit happens, right? But in this case, it was just down to neglect and poor care. All they had to do was make sure the tank was cleanish, well heated, and had a proper humidity. 

Anyway, I’m sorry you went through something similar... I hope the calf was ok D:

Gonna answer this as part 2 to the [ previous ask ]!

I've briefly touched on star's [ immortality outlier ] working in tandem with dark energon to revive him and cause his mutation. It also has the added side effect of reviving his spark even when his original frame is no longer viable. The way around this is for his spark to seek out another to parasitize, and the host will eventually be overwritten and the frame will become his to control.

Starscream doesn't survive Shockwave’s vivisection. The scientist plucks the shard of dark energon from his spark chamber, and his spark disperses as the color fades from the butchered remains of his frame. What a pity that he couldn’t hold on, that their time together was cut short.

Meanwhile, the dispersed energy from Starscream's altered spark has sought out the nearest vessel, a vehicon drone carting used surgical equipment off to be cleaned and sterilized. It will make a decent enough host frame, and he can utilize it to find where Knock Out os being kept in stasis somewhere in this massive lab network...
