The opening salvo in the U.S.' diplomatic attack on Russia over Edward Snowden comes from the band that once release a song that once tried to slip a profanity on the radio by using NATO phonetic spelling. That's the best we've got, CIA?!?
Fake edit: Seriously, though, this was a terrible idea, terrible band we're shocked is still together.
Ok folks, I need to run this by people, make sure its not just me.
I think Nickelback is trolling us. By us, I mean humanity.
What I know about Nickelback:
Name provides for obvious jokes about their quality.
Recorded two nigh-identical songs, to the point you can play them synched up and only the lyrics are different. Apparently expected people not to notice.
Is inescapable yet nigh-universally disliked.
They made the above music video.
Now, I know this is going to hurt, but start that video. It is essential to the point I'm going to make, and I'll post a Foo-Fighters video right after this as a palette cleanser, I promise.
Now, the reason I bring up this video isn't because of the terribleness of the song, its because of the video.
This video attempts to represent Nickelback rocking hard enough to cause the earth itself to tear asunder. In doing so Nickelback (or possibly their music video director) finally made a fatal mistake and tipped their hand, because they can't possibly be serious.
We're all familiar with the concept of music so metal that the world bends to its will. Screaming guitar solos shooting Highlander-esq lightning bolts, musical swells that summon torrential rains to wash away jackbooted thugs, drum solos that raise the dead or even 80s New Wave that makes a sexy tiger lady battle you in the jungle. This song isn't that. Moreover, it isn't trying to be that. This is about as hardcore as a Bryan Adams cover of Every Rose Has its Thorn.
This isn't a bad attempt at metal. This isn't, say, Stryper. It isn't even aggressively terrible. It's just ambitiously mediocre. It's like getting a beatdown from the Pillsbury Doughboy: its remarkable mostly because of how you almost don't realize that it's happening.
Just look at it, the ground is cracking apart, a bridge shaking and tearing to pieces and a horde of people clearly dancing to the beat of an entirely different song. The band isn't even faking getting into it. Everyone involved knows what this is and knows what they are making.
Yet they decided to assign this video to the song they recorded while the guitarist was obviously robotripping.
Then it all made sense. There is no Nickelback. Oh, there's a band that calls itself that, there are albums and songs released under that name, but that band is a charade. Somehow, the lamest rock band imaginable sprang into existence, shuffled forward through album after album without any kind of recognizable support structure or market, released the same song twice with two sets of lyrics and then got this music video matched to this song past directors, CG artists, storyboarders, press agents and record execs without anyone putting a stop to it?
Wake up, people!
Nickelback isn't a band. Nickelback the band is a hoax. In truth, they're a dadaist prank writ-large and inflicted upon us over a span of years. As we laughed at them they were laughing at us. It was right there in the name, right in front of us the whole time.
Alright I think that Creed is one of the worst bands of all time. Who agrees?
Probably going to get biased answers going into the Creed tag, but whatever. Can't really be biased since it is an opinion. Anyway the singer sounds like he is constantly forcing his voice out if that makes sense. Every single one of their songs sounds like the other. I don't know they are just terrible in my opinion.
Tumblr Saviour, why will you not protect me from Panic! at the Disco? WHY?

Why?
a question that's been on my mind for a long time
how does one like Nickelback?
A DAY TO UNFOLLOW IS MORE LIKE IT
Keep that shit off my dash
