Sewing Patterns? No!
In my house we buy shitty clothes and spend days making them similar to an idea we saw once on tumblr!

The latter. Definitely.
I’m actually really warming to this theory, especially since I just remembered that in “Esprit de Corps” Steed puts Cathy’s leather clothes in the washing machine because he doesn’t know that they shouldn’t be laundered. Maybe Steed was always going “Are weird striped pants good?” and Cathy and Emma always said, “No, they are never good,” but Tara, with her own questionable fashion choices (a large cardigan and no pants are NOT appropriate office wear), tells him they are A-OK.
I don’t understand why the clothes are so bad in Season 6 of The Avengers. You guys had great clothes a year ago! What happened? Did Diana Rigg take all the good costume designers with her?
Even Steed has bad clothes. Does he see no reason to dress well anymore? Or has he secretly always had bad taste in clothes and previously relied on Cathy and Emma to steer him straight, while Tara has terrible taste in clothes herself and therefore cannot be relied upon to do so? So many mysteries.
