Pac-12 pushes Arizona-ASU back to Saturday after Thanksgiving
Pac-12 pushes Arizona-ASU back to Saturday after Thanksgiving
Fans of Arizona and Arizona State will get one more day to recover from their Thanksgiving feasts this year before getting ready for the Territorial Cup. The game is being pushed back a day from its previously scheduled Friday time slot and will now be played on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The reason for the change is due to television, naturally. The Pac-12 Conference agreed to move the conference…

Here’s What’s Happening in Tucson This Weekend!
Fri 11/23 - Sun 11/25
Since ancient times, studies of medicine, science and the stars, have found a correlation between the behavior of people and the full moon. In modern times Google has documented the behavior and predictable habits of online shoppers! Well, let’s just see how this all works out today since it’s Happy Black Friday and Happy Full Moon day as well! Be very, very, careful out there today everyone! The Weather forecast for tonight includes SNOW! At least it’s only falling at La Encantada from 6:00 to 6:45pm and we won’t have to drive in it!
Saturday afternoon you can leave reality behind and go back in time to a movie from long, long ago called Star Wars. Hear the score performed live by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra while watching Han, Luke and Leia battle the evil force of the dark side and Darth Vader. Or, instead of deep space, head to a magical Greek Isle and listen to the music of ABBA with Mamma Mia at the Berger Center for Performing Arts.
A tale of two coaches! Herm Edwards, coach of ASU will face off against Kevin Sumlin and the UofA Wildcats tomorrow at our stadium for the 91st meeting where the winner holds the Territorial Cup for the year. Show your support for both teams to continue the longest running civilized rivalry in college football. You can start with a great celebration with tonight’s last Bear Down Friday!
Hustle, bustle, traffic, shopping. All have the adverse ability to dampen your spirit. Take a moment to pamper your Zen with some you time. Visit the Yume Japanese Gardens of Tucson as they open their doors to visitors to quietly wander and absorb the healing sights, sounds and smells of the gardens and flowers. All were shaped by hand in the traditions handed down through generations. For a calm shopping event, consider The Artists of the Southwest fine art show at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park tomorrow and Sunday.
Regardless of your shopping plans this weekend, enjoy and keep the spirit alive! As always, please let us know if we can be of help to you or someone you know.
Why Not Arizona?
The Week: Past, Present, and Future
Why not Arizona?
The Past
WHAT A WEEK TO BE A WILDCAT. Football beat ASU. Arizona took back the Territorial Cup. Pac-12 South Champions. Coach Rodriguez, Pac-12 Coach of the Year. Scooby Wright III, Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Football beat ASU. Arizona checked in at #7 on the College Football Playoff poll. 10-2. #11 Volleyball headed to the NCAA Tournament. Men’s basketball beat Missouri, Kansas State, San Diego State, and Garner-Webb. Maui Invitational Champions. And in case you didn’t hear, football beat ASU.
The Present
Last night men’s basketball hosted Garner-Webb and beat the Running Bulldogs 91-65. Some pretty impressive plays pumped up the energy in McKale and in the ZonaZoo and its no doubt everyone is pumped for the Cats to take on Gonzaga on Saturday (3:15pm, ESPN). It will surely be one of the biggest games of the year in McKale and the ZonaZoo is undoubtedly going to be nuts. McKale will also be home to the first round of the NCAA Tournament for volleyball (12/4 @ 6:30, 12/5 TBD). Be sure to buy a ticket; you won’t want to miss out!
The Future
Arizona is heading PAC 12 Championship game to face Oregon on Friday (7pm, FOX). The Cats have come a long way and if you aren’t headed to Santa Clara to support them, ZonaZoo will be hosting a watch party at the Auld Dubliner. Be sure to get there early to make sure you get a spot!
It’s going to be another great weekend to be a Wildcat. It’s time to hunt some Ducks: round 2.
Bear Down, ZonaZoo.
