Though his heart ached to know the loneliness Yubel had suffered ( the loneliness I caused, his mind supplied, swiping away the hope of a child, the hope of a better life, with the ashes of failure ), there was no better time to account for his mistakes than with Yubel’s smile. “We’re in this together, Yubel,” he spoke, warm and fond to the core, “I’ve gotta take care of you too.”

“Well, I guess I just don’t see the POINT. Revenge won’t CHANGE anything, will it?” Johan LIKED to consider himself a reasonable person, but there was some part of him that did like the sound of VENGENCE from time to time.

There were certainly people in his life who DESERVED it.

Yubel, most ASSUREDLY among them.

But he’d rather just live, and let be, and try to MOVE ON from any ill will.

There’s a moment where he has to double-check EXACTLY what game they’re playing, as if not sure how DRAMATIC the situation actually needed to be.
