@playtimeframeshift I'm sorry for all the pings, but I started thinking a bit more after seeing your Nightmare Critters and how they reminded me of the terrorteds!
I saw those little bits next to the nightmare critters that were meant to show which Smiling Critter they're opposite of, and it reminded me of how each terrorted is an opposite to the werebear they hate the most (while also having 1 thing in common) as well as the things that make the terrorteds hate their respective werebear! Idk if this was something you were planning for your AU or not, but I did get these vibes when I saw em and I am showing these to make some parallels! (Strap in tho, it's gonna be a long one!)
Chomp hates Grizzler the most because Grizzler has yellow fur, which is the color that Chomp hates the most! And it fits well, because the pair are both pretty fearful about things! The difference is, however, Chomp is a coward who hides this by bragging about being "brave", essentially being all talk. Whilst Grizzler is actually brave, showing in the way he's able to do something he thinks is either scary or dangerous even though he REALLY doesn't want to, but he genuinely doesn't think he is brave in any way, basically having his actions speak for him! One never admits he's scared whilst the other admits he's scared quite often, and their actions speak for themselves!
I mention this because this is the vibe I got from Big Boss Smokey and LuckyCorn! I imagine both probably fumble a lot, but while Smokey either lies about it being a fumble or says "i meant to do that" whenever something happens, Luckycorn often admits his mistakes! Can't think of a thing that he'd hate about Lucky as of rn, but I may come up with something later who knows!
Next one! Munch hates Fang the most because he hates pointy things, which Fang's only tooth is definitely pointy! Now, their opposite traits are that Fang is a clever boy with a mind as sharp as his tooth whilst Munch is an absolute dumbass (saying this affectionately. I love Munch XD) who has a mind as dull as the top of his head (so much so that he doesn't even realize his own teeth are sharp)! So what exactly would be their shared trait? Well, as it says here, Fang may be clever, but that doesn't mean he knows everything, especially being on the younger side of the 4 werebears! So their shared trait is falliblity and multiple misunderstandings! But while Munch turns to others in order to get answers and agrees with what anyone else says, Fang is very curious and if he doesn't know something, he's bound to find out what it is himself!
I imagined Mako sounding and somewhat acting like Munch, and I was having trouble figuring out how this would attribute to Rockstar Rooster, and I thought maybe Mako's pet hate was anything fast, even if that meant music that was so fast that following along to it made her(?) brain hurt? Idk, I might have to know a little more about these 2 in order to fully figure it out!
Next 2 (and this is my favorite)! Snapper hates Gums because he really hates anything without teeth! By comparison, Snapper has way more teeth than anyone could ever need (as it says)! And it makes a lot of sense that Gums is the one that Snapper hates most because, on top of it being 1 having lots of teeth and the other having none at all, they're both the WORST TEMPERED of their respective groups! However, on top of a difference being that Gums is also gentle tempered most of the time and this bad temper comes when his personality flips, it's what they do with these bad tempers that makes all the difference! Snapper, who is the biggest hater ever, often uses this bad temper of his to hurt anyone or anything for his own amusement! Whilst Gums uses his bad temper to protect himself or anyone he cares about! And given he's the youngest of the werebears, it's best to say that even if he LOOKS like he would be the one to easily mess with, you wouldn't want to mess with HIM THE MOST!
I already headcannoned Touille having Snapper's voice, and honestly, after seeing Peachy Piggy, I honestly think their vibes almost perfectly match that of Snapper and Gums'! Shared trait wise, can't think of one atm, but I can see a theme of caring about both yourself and others vs only caring about yourself! Peachy would not only make sure to take care of herself, but the same goes for all her friends, whilst Touille only cares about himself and does things (like eating garbage) that are bad for him but doesn't care because he likes it! (Which, telling by how little Snapper takes care of his teeth vs Gums having a toothbrush in case he grows a few, fits that vibe a lot too!)
Last 2! Grunt hates Howler the most because he hates any kind of music, which is something that Howler loves a lot! These 2 were the first ones I noticed a parallel for, as not only are they the leaders of the group, but they also have patience issues! However, whenever Grunt's impatient, he often tries pushing all the other terrorteds to hurry tf up! But whenever Howler's impatient, he often either goes on ahead and tries to get a head start or goes off to do something else (that's not often to say this doesn't have consequences, as it does sometimes, but he's not willing to push the others to go at a faster pace)! About them being leaders, these 2 both show their ways of being leaders by their honesty and lack there of, mainly in how the dynamic between both Chomp/Grunt and Grizzler/Howler!
Chomp thinks he's, and brags about being, the leader of the terrorteds, but rather than Grunt correcting him, he often goes along with it, lying and manipulating him so if any of them get in trouble, the blame would be on him! On the flip side, Grizzler, who's often the first to mention when and who caused some kind of trouble for the 4 werebears (even if it's himself), may say that Howler caused them to get into a dangerous situation followed by him worried that they'd be doomed. And to this, Howler would own up and not place the blame on anyone else and then try to fix it!
I felt this dynamic the most with Poe and DogDay, with Poe possibly manipulating one of the other nightmare critters all the while DogDay is honest when things happen because of himself and still being uplifting for the others! I also imagine Poe's pet hate being anything bright and colorful, like in their own canon, so they REALLY wouldn't like DogDay at all!
