something important to keep in mind about shizuku if you want to try and understand her character is the presence of contradictions. shizuku is, at her core, a character absolutely rife with contradictory actions and traits.
she's both selfish and selfless. hardworking and too laid-back. she was the leader of cheerful*days, and the one who needed their help the most. she wants to be a pillar of emotional support to those closest to her, but oftentimes fails to get them to open up to her. she's emotionally aware and unaware at the same time. her third event had her winning over fans by being honest, but that honesty was wrapped up in a lie. shizuku doesn't rely on others for help enough, yet simultaneously relies on them *too* much. her perfect persona wasn't actually her, but at the same time it WAS her.
shizuku is far from a straightforward character, and a lot of her characterization and character development is far more subtle than a large majority of this cast's.
tl;dr shizuku is a good yet extremely complex and contradictory character <3
forgive me here for a second, but i've been thinking a bit about how the plural community tends to discuss persecutors — and it really bothers me that the discussion at large tends to be based off of 3 erroneous assumptions:
1. that persecutors are either their own seperate people OR a part of "you" depending on what exactly benefits the person making the statement the most
2. that the most harm persecutors can do is just be a bit misguided and mean at times, because they're simply protectors who accidentally cause harm
3. that everyone in a system is obligated to get along and be on good terms with one another no matter what
it very much falls flat to us as a system who has witnessed multiple cases of abuse between alters both in our system, and in others. if we were discussing people from different bodies, the idea that you're OBLIGATED to forgive your abuser would be frowned upon by some people — even if it's still a common sentiment, there would be push back. but the second the abuse occurs between alters, everyone trips over their feet to describe how you Must forgive your abuser because you Have to get along due to being in the same system, because clearly that's how plurality works.
it feels short sighted, in all honesty — and a sentiment that can be dangerous to push. it's almost as if people don't view in system abuse as being "real" abuse.
bead lizard time babie
Mmm~? Is there anything to do here~? I’ve been waiting a whole three minutes and there’s STILL nothing interesting going on...
ok me being tired makes me a lot less filtered apparently. #hottake so much common relationship advice you see is just repackaged victim blaming
what i'm gathering is that wxs is a very... interesting unit
tbh i feel like we don't discuss enough how phenomenal of a baker airi actually is. airi made perfect macarons — which are notoriously hard to make correctly — with ease. and this is alongside a ton of other baked goods!!
