Mmm. Mmmmm! I want to much to draw more, and I actually do sketch a lot! I sketch a ton! I just keep running into this wall where I can’t seem to work any diversity into faces. And it’s not for lack of practice! I’ve filled up almost an entire sketchbook with pages upon pages of jaws and eyes and noses and I can’t shake this feeling that there’s just something fundamentally wrong with how I was taught to look at faces and face shapes, and that’s what I can’t get past. I couldn’t tell you exactly what that is but. B u t.

Maybe I will go back to doing gesture drawings.

It’s not Christmas anymore so I can post some ranting.

I really wish I could be excited about Hiveswap anymore, but it’s just one disappointment after another. I had high hopes for something a little more interesting than another side scrolling point and click, and I love side scrolling point and click but for the amount of time this game is taking to even have a showable product, it just seems really lackluster.

Nor can I really be excited over what’s amounting to Meenah 2.0. Maybe if Feferi comes back in a big way I’ll feel differently, but all I can think about is a really cool story element that got wasted for no good reason and then rubbed in our faces.

All the Homestuck merch has been moved to WLF and Topatoco. WLF has the contest shirts, and the tarot cards are out there somewhere, but other than that, most of the fan-made stuff that was in the WhatPumpkin store is gone. The comic hasn’t updated since July 28th, and there have been no updates on the game since July 20th, so that’s more or less four months of complete radio silence except for some small store-related updates. Paradox Space completely fell to the wayside.

I’m not saying Homestuck is dying because it’s not, but I think it’s definitely lost that community feel that you always see behind successful webcomics. One of the things that sets webcomics from traditional printed comics is (perceived) proximity to the creator and to each other, and I think it’s very much been pulled away from that. Whether or not it’s intentional, or just a consequence of Hussie trying to grow his business, it’s what I really miss the most.

It sucks being stuck in an art rut and you know you just need to get drawing to get out of it but you get so ashamed of anything you draw that you don’t want to do that :’(

I KNOW WHAT I MUST DO just doing it is really hard.

Also I named myself Guns because I didn’t want to be crass and do like. Hitler, or Satan, but I didn’t know what else was deadly and all I could think of was “GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE”.......

Oh yeah I wound up buying a pair of Sennheiser RS 170 wireless headphones, I like them a LOT so far. No hassle setup, and the docking station is perfect for what I need. The sound is good enough for me, not an audiophile. I’m using them to watching Finding Nemo right now...

I feel a lot better today. I also watched Rapunzel tonight, it’s my favorite movie. That’s about it.

Bless my mom, she loaned me the money I need and then some. Therapy went well today. The moves have been cancelled. I just need to get my stuff back and write some unfortunate checks.

Lesson learned.
