Alright, gacha oc time!
…
Here’s a quarter I got from my own gacha. Give me one of your characters. (Please)
So tumblr deleted this the first time around :( Second time's the charm! Thanks for the ask, Tess!!
I'll be doing Scarlett the Everdawn (title pending) from my story Defector Venator! (Under a readmore so that it doesn't clog anybody's dash up.)
Scarlett is a tall, thin, fae-like woman with a mass of long red hair and golden eyes. She wears a red leather jacket and black shirt, pants, and boots. Her sword, whose title I'm going to change but which is currently Lone Wolf, is a long black greatsword with glowing purple edges.
Scarlett is the Champion of Madness to the goddess Autumn and the leader of the cult-followers of Autumn, the Hunters. She gained the title Champion through her Wild Hunt, where she Hunted and killed the Champion of Vitality, the god Spring's champion. She, like the rest of the Hunters, have a mission to summon their banished god Autumn with the help of the Autumnalius, Autumn's book, and the Ritual of Madness. However, at the beginning of the story, she's beginning to feel a guilt and doubt in her mission that fights against the doctrine and cult-like mindset she's been indoctrinated into.
Some facts about the world:
The four main gods of this universe are the Seasons. (Other gods exist, but these are the main four.)
The Hunters are a women-only group. However, trans women are welcome. If someone become a trans man/non-binary/a non-woman, they are honorably discharged from the Hunters. They get to keep their previous weapons and ranks and instead act as emissaries for Autumn, safe havens for the Hunters, and other such networks.
The Hunters have three ranks: Claws (led by Thalia the Silver-Claws), Rangers (led by... I can't remember rn), and Swords (led by Gwendolyn)
Claws are the "foot soldiers" of the Hunters, stereotyped as savage wolves ready to follow orders and leap at the Hunt. They do most basic work for the Hunters, act as recruiters, as the basis of Hunts and strategies, and as the common Hunter. Each has their own set of unique claws, whether created or natural, that they fight with.
Rangers are the strategists, archers, and stealthers of the Hunters. They are stereotyped as a scheming snake- conniving, clever, and venomous. They specialize in strategy, poisons, scouting, and archery. They each make their own unique bow that is blessed with infinite arrows.
Swords are the most prestigious, highest-ranking. One becomes a Sword after competing some great task or undergoing grueling trials that kills everyone but the best of the best. Swords are also the only ones who may undertake a Wild Hunt and become Champion. They are each unique, but are all leaders of the Hunters, leading Hunts, the mission, daily operations, and everything in between. Swords are each gifted a unique and special sword by Autumn herself, containing untold power.
The Champion is the greatest Sword. They undertake a Wild Hunt to become the Champion of Madness, completing some grand and impressive task. Scarlett's, for example, was slaying the Champion of Vitality, Spring's Champion. Champions also gain a second form- a primal second side gifted with unfathomable power, nearly unkillable, and the perfect beast. Scarlett's is the Wolf, a scribbled approximation of a massive, sometimes bipedal and sometimes quadruped wolf with unnatural proportions but always horrifying white eyes. Champions somewhat keep their minds intact during this transformation, but Scarlett has trouble seeing the Wolf as herself, instead seeing it as a different person or different, untapped side of herself.
However, the second form, though believed to be a perfect servant of Autumn, is not that. It instead represents the other side of the user. Scarlett's Wolf, for example, does not fight Scarlett whenever she defects from the Hunters- it attempts to keep Scarlett safe, focused instead on self-preservation and success. I'm still figuring out the true symbolism of the Wolf and what it represents, but this is my initial draft of it.
Some facts about Scarlett:
In this world, Qridius, as well as my writing, characters won't use labels. Some people like them, but I never have, especially in writing. They feel limiting to me. I can't imagine wanting to write a relationship but being constrained by a sense that I'm not fitting the label. Also, personally, only the labels of aro and ace have ever felt comfortable to me or to apply to any characters, so I don't as a rule.
Regardless, Scarlett is bisexual in some sense of the word. She is also probably on the demiromantic/demisexual spectrum, only feeling deeply for people after a long while.
Her two biggest relationships are with Lucian and Thalia. Lucian is who she ends up with, who is also bisexual in some sense. Before that, however, he's the reason she gets out of the Hunters and acts as sort of a support system for her. Thalia is the other one, her best friend and closest confidant, the person she joined the Hunters with and eventually her greatest enemy. Both these people are intended to explore the nature of friendship (Thalia especially leaning into wlw/the complexities of friendship between women).
And some actual fun facts! Scarlett's favorite drink is lemonade, which she discovers in Port Finchwing, the setting of their ritual. Her favorite food is one that Thalia prepares when she's on cooking duty: a honey-glazed rabbit with heavily seasoned root vegetables. However, in Port Finchwing, she discovers she has a particular fondness for spicy foods.
Scarlett's primary songs are isaac's insects by isaac dunbar, The Wolf by the Crane Wives, Hocking by Cosmo Sheldrake, and Look Away by The Dear Hunter.
Scarlett and Lucian's songs are Starkiller by the Bear Ghost and Structure by Odd Sweetheart (somewhat). Scarlett and Thalia's songs are Structure by Odd Sweetheart and She Likes a Boy by Nxdia.
That was a lot! Thanks so much for reading, and I really enjoyed writing this (even a second time!). Defector Venator is such a comfort story, and though it's going through second draft hell right now as I figure out the wider story and how to revise it, I still love it. Maybe chatting about it here will get me to write more about them, though with Clusterhug in production and other things, I think it'll be on the backburner for a while yet, instead here for me to slowly figure out what it means.
