So I was invited for a #kobe #burger at the Atheneum in Pasadena with a friend and he ordered a bottle of 2002 #pontetcanet which was absolutely divine. The wine started off very shyly - almost introverted and would not show any of its character - however after about 30 mins of air the fat appeared and the wine transformed itself into the most amazing bottle and experience I have had in quite some time. It was oozing fruit, not quite super dark - more mulberry, some undergrowth, licorice and spice but the fatness was so #elegant, it was just a beauty. 2002 is fairly classic as a vintage in Pauillac but this bottle was as pure as the driven snow.
