They paused for a VERY long time by my table. And I thought, “why are they still here? Wtf? Am I doing something wrong? Could it be that maybe I’m far ahead of everyone else, so they’re checking to make sure I’m doing it right?” Just so many questions trying to guess why they would be hovering RIGHT beside my desk for a long time. I turned the page, and it was a gray page that separated the sections. I saw this and was at the end of my chart with one column remaining, so I thought, “Oh that must be listening. I better not turn this page because the mean lady might see and give me card”. I thought that!!!! So I didn’t even check what was after. And I thought I was finished with the test and decided to go back and check my answers. I took my time, too. Double, triple checking. And, I don’t know how, but suddenly I just happen to decide to flip through the booklet and I saw that there were like 18 problems left for the reading section that I hadn’t done yet. And there was only 15 MINTUES LEFT!!!!! That’s less than one minute per question PLUS I had to read these essays!!! I was so stressed and wanted to cry. I was debating on whether I should just get up and give them my test and say I failed. I was freaking out. Luckily, I made it through with making “educated guesses” on context and scanning and reading faster than I have in Japanese before. I have no clue if any of those are right. Those essays always have some trick question to them or something. The sad part is, reading is my strong point, but I had to rush and was frazzled. It’s a tossup. I am sad because if I fail, it’s not even because I didn’t study enough or something, it’s because I really messed up. I felt like all my hard work flew out the window when I realized the remaining problems. I’m so embarrassed.

Admittedly, even on the night of the JLPT, after it was over, I kind of felt like “well what do I do now?” Studying can take up so much time. It becomes such a part of your life.
