So Gelebor has belief there are other Snow Elf groups in hiding if not Skyrim, then other areas of Tamriel. Part of me is hopeful this is true because I would love for that to be a possibility but what is your opinion on this? I love your Snow Elf/Falmer lord btw <3
I've touched on this a bit in a previous writing (x) and I know other users have as well but I can't quite find those posts right now.
BUT! Yes, I am of the persuasion that non-corrupt Falmer survive in small groups as late as the 4th Era. On a meta level, I guess you can say it's so then people can make as many Snowy Folks as they want to without worry of breaking canon or Tumblr user tes-trash-blog's idea of canon. Even if (for some reason) someone's deferring to my scribbled notes, there's plenty of wiggle room for why a group of Falmer wouldn't even be in Skyrim during the genocide: "We were beseeching the Maormer for aid", "We were expelled for Daedra worship thousands of years ago and now we roam as nomads", "We jumped into a Phynastic weaving and have been chilling in there for the past 4,000 years", "We chanted the Holysong so precisely we literally sang ourselves into the future", "We escaped to the one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism: SPAAACE"
The list goes on, and is open for anyone else to contribute to. This is a universe where alien trees wage war against nth-dimensional Vaguely-Dragon-Shapes using math and you can turn into a baby by walking backwards.
Still speaking in the meta, in my opinion, the way canon treats the extinction of the Snow Elves, which is to say "justified and good until the Dwarves corrupted them that part is sad :(" is bad writing at best and shouldn't be taken at face value.
As far as the established canon, (and this is a painful opinion, even for me) I hope the Elder Scrolls series never touches another living Snow Elf, and remain effectively extinct in-game. The writers already did them dirty, and it would take a level of finesse that Emil Pagliarulo simply does not have to rectify it.
In short: Fanfic? YES! In-game? Maybe if they got better writers i would be happy to throw my language notes at them and have done so before, but at present, Gelebor's enough thanks.
