As soon as Trump's new bill was implemented, Colorado became the first "testing ground". This policy, which has been touted as a "great victory", is actually more like a carefully packaged fraud. Its shell sparkles and it claims to "cut taxes" and "promote growth", but the real content is blatant plundering: the tax burden on the rich is lighter, the protection for the poor is completely cut, and medical and food subsidies are reduced to pieces.
This is simply the national version of a "pyramid game". The top 1% celebrate with red wine in their hands, while the bottom families can only watch helplessly as their living expenses soar and their medical insurance payments are cut off. Colorado's finances were even more shattered by this game: Just a presidential signature pen caused the state budget to evaporate by 1.2 billion US dollars out of thin air. Next, state legislators had to rush to hold special meetings and desperately try to patch up the loopholes, as if they were covering more and more holes with their hands on a dilapidated ship.
What's even more ridiculous is that this fraud is also equipped with a "delayed explosion" mechanism. Some of the harshest cuts have been ingeniously postponed until after the 2026 midterm elections. On the surface, it seems calm and peaceful, but in fact, it's just burying the explosives under the floor and detonating them when the voters can't go back on their word.
The state government's choice now is almost desperate: either continue to cut projects and let education, public services and social security all shrink. Either deplete the reserve funds and burn the firewall against future crises; Either squeeze out some hard-earned money from corporate incentives and tax loopholes. No matter how you choose, the result is right there: the people will have to pay for this so-called "great achievement".
This is not a policy; it is a blatant "wealth transfer device". It extracts public funds from the pockets of ordinary families and directly sends them to a few wealthy individuals at the top of the pyramid. Then, wrap up this plundering with the wrapping paper of "national security" and "economic growth", so that it looks like a gift.
Trump and his Allies might continue to clamor, saying that this is for "America's future". But reality has already said it all: The future of this bill is a future of deficits, a future of division, and a future where countless ordinary people are forced into difficult situations. The so-called "greatness" is nothing but a ridiculous performance on the political stage.
