Extra Fragments
Part 1
cw: implied child neglect, heavily implied character death, blood, swearing
chima realizes, after a few hours of being in this world, that it’s one of those alternate dimensions- realities? Universes? Well, something along that vein. It was interesting, for renet seemed to make it sound so complicated, but actually experiencing it felt… different.
this was new york city, that she got, and it didn’t feel too different from the one she was used to. she goes underground, hiding out for a while as she wasn’t sure how these people would react to… y'know, the extra arms and eyes thing.
it takes maybe half an hour before she encounters a turtle. She stays in the shadows, using her cloak to hide as she observes the little darling. they were wearing red — raphael, she presumed — and they seemed… lost. She didn’t know how far their home was, but it didn’t feel right leaving them all by themself.
she introduces herself as chima, a wandering spirit that helps guide lost children. silly, she knows, and she can see the suspension on their face, but raphael grabs her hand anyway, and she walks, walks, walks with him until he scurried off up ahead, leaving her behind in the sewers.
she doesn’t follow. doesn’t shout out. it’s not her place to, it was probably fine. she heard some commotion up ahead, his siblings most likely. He found his way home, and now, she would need to find her way back to hers. simple enough. What were the odds she’d meet up with him again?
——
as it turns out, getting home was harder than she expected. She had no way to contact Renet on her end, and she wasn’t particularly skilled in multidimensional magic like the lord of the nexus. That leaves Chima with one other option: to wait.
did she want to wait? no, but with the kind of luck their family tends to attract, she should be used to this by now.
she takes a nap, trying to get comfortable yet is woken up not too soon. almost smacks whoever or whatever before realizing it was the same little turtlely-boo from before. and he’d brought along company.
this one was taller, slightly older perhaps? with an orange headband tied around their head, she recognized this as michelangelo. looking even closer now, she noticed that they didn’t seem entirely turtle… both kids had a smaller extra set of eyes sitting just below their normal ones, as well as two sets of… spider arms on their sides? were- were these her and lou’s biological children in this world?
no. no, no, as nice as that would be, they don’t show any bat traits in them. or maybe they did but it wasn’t visible? either way, they were not her kids.
she learns very quickly that raphael had convinced his sibling that there was a spirit lurking in the sewers, or something along that manner. through some banter, it appeared that their other siblings — leonardo and donatello most likely — didn’t think the same or assumed she was just an imaginary friend raphael made up. and thus, he brought one of his siblings out to prove he was right, and michelangelo was the poor soul chosen.
she brings them back home again, but stays to listen to some of their interesting chatter. they didn't seem to have any, if at all knowledge of the world that existed above them. they couldn’t be more than 10 — michelangelo at least, raphael was so small! — so it was odd why they left home so young at their ages.
she watched them run back home with a sigh. she didn’t know how long she’d be here for, but maybe she could watch over the little darlings until then. talk to this world’s splinter, ask him a couple of things. seemed simple enough… right?
——
chima doesn’t meet turtle number three until the next day. according to a little spying, she realized that splinter was out, and she really wanted to take the chance to get a good look at their home without causing too much of a scene.
it appeared that he took leonardo with him too. hm.
their home was… something. she didn’t expect it to be like their own back home, and she had no idea what this splinter had been through before acquiring four turtle tots, but it didn’t seem as though it was, how you say… exactly beneficial for four growing turtle kids.
at least she gets to meet donatello… yay?
he was actually more similar to her donatello than she expected. raphael was tiny, and michelangelo seemed quite excitable, but the cautious and curious nature of donatello seemed somewhat familiar.
apparently, these kids have never met an actual human before.
chima walks in with a bag of food and the small basic necessities that she definitely didn’t steal, placing them on a counter when she senses unfamiliar eyes burning a hole into her head. one glance to the side makes her eye to eye — well, not quite since she was still taller, of course — with a turtle with a much longer tail than its siblings, donning purple, and just… staring at her. Was that a knife attached to the tail, or was she seeing things?
this one seemed more confident(?) as it approached her, eyeing the bag… ah, she sees now. it had every right to be cautious, what, with the state their home was in….
she gets down to his level, introduces herself, and shows him the contents of the bag. let’s him pick through every little piece slow by slow, watched him pick out the “dangerous” ones, which seemed to be food he wasn’t familiar with… which was a majority of the food.
at that point, if splinter had returned and there was a simple few servings left of mac’ n cheese on the counter, and if the other three kids he’d abandoned left behind mentioned something about the kitchen or a spider in the sink or anything out of the ordinary, it wasn’t her problem. he can choose to not parent, fine. but as long as she breathes air here, she’s not letting these kids go hungry.
(also, donatello was so very desperate for her attention? when it got warmed up to her… was it them never having a maternal figure before, or was neglect a part of the list where splinter fucked up too?)
——
she keeps watching from afar, and eventually picks up some information about splinter. one, he seemed to favor leonardo over the others. and not in the “Oh, he just spends a little more time with her” way, no. he will only ever interact with her out of all the children, leave the rest alone to take leonardo who knows where for extended periods of time, leaving the rest alone by themselves.
donatello in particular seemed to crave splinter’s attention in any way, and in truth, it hurt seeing him get ignored.
it reminded her too much of her young self.
this whole situation- it was just ridiculous! her bring here wasn’t meant to happen, it just did, and she’s really wanting to scoop up all those kids and getting the hell out of there, but… it wouldn’t be fair to the kids. not like she can just kill the rat, right…? anyways, as badly as she wanted to, this wasn’t her place to…
….
……….
——
That bastard pushed her in front of a train.
That fucking RAT—
she left for a while just to watch where The Rat would take leonardo, entrusting donatello to be in charge (this was not anything like The Rat would do, believe her) believing it would be a quick in-and-out thing.
and then he started lecturing her. and he got angry. the full details she wasn’t quite sure of, but it sounded like something to do with “showing mercy”? of all the- her lou- her Beloved would never speak like this to their babies! the possibility that this rat, this bastard, would even dare to- to—!
She jumps.
Grabs the Child.
Takes her away from The Rat.
Lunged at The Rat.
he looked surprised, which made her even more mad. how dare he act like the victim! he’s not naïve, the others behavior had changed, and it was here that she knew that it all clicked for him. he wanted to be mad? fine, then. it was a while since she had a good workout, anyway.
she throws him against the wall. he slashed at her face. she tackled him to the ground. he kicked her off.
adrenaline pumped through her veins, blood dripping down her cheek. forget everything nice or positive she’d ever said about The Rat, she’ll kill him with her own bare hands. yes, she might scare leonardo, yes, she might look like a monster to her, but just another one gone, and in The Rat’s place, would be her.
the train horn flared. chima clenched her fist. The Rat stood, prideful and horrible as ever, and then—
he stumbles. no, was stabbed.
chima looks to leonardo. in her shaky hand, a bloodied knife.
the train screams again.
chima doesn’t think. she body slams The Rat onto the rails, picks up leonardo, shielding her eyes and runs as the train’s horn gives out one final screech.
leaves The Rat to rot.
