As an Innovator I don’t pick sides

I don’t stand on ground and argue one point of a conversation or argument. I look at all sides and find a resolution in knowing and understanding all facets of work done and to be done.

First side is Algae – I developed a way to grow the algae in a very small and very productive way that allows 24/7 operations to exist for Power Plants. No unnecessary leveling of large swaths of land to be converted to raceway ponds is necessary. Every one of my self designed facilities will exist in less then 1/1,000th the land area of raceway pond algae operations constructed today. Algae in any strain can convert to biomass or what is known in the industry as Green Crude. These are the basic starting points of bioconverting power plant emissions to carbon based reusable or renewable energy development. This is using the power plant for more then one cycle of production value.

Second side is Coal – Coal is abundant and it takes men and machines to unearth the valued product then ship the product to the power plants. Coal is plentiful and men and machines have been mining it for 100’s of years in many countries. Sources of some of the greatest wealth have come from mining coal. Some of my closest friends own and operate deep mines in the Schuylkill County Pennsylvania anthracite region. They are close enough to me to stop what they are doing during there mining shift and speak with me about the conundrums of their lively hood as miners and their future. Back in 2003 I went to every miners operation in Schuylkill county and convinced them I was the man for the job at getting through to the new mine safety leadership that had begun an over penalizing crusade to rid the coal community of deep miners in Pennsylvania. I challenged the miners and then I took it upon myself to write up the material they had given me and attempt to reach the mine safety administrator plus some local state legislation to get help for the miners as they were being scuttled by over active state and federal inspectors. I did this using my own money they paid me nothing and with all my help 2 small operations still shut down and later one committed suicide amongst allegations of safety concerns in a blasting situation. Over the course of the last 30 years I have had the pleasure to play on coal. dance on coal, sleep on coal and even have some unwanted coal embedded under my skin (ouch that hurt) for the rest of my life. Now back to coal and its involvement with Algae, Coal produces more CO2 then natural gas, sure there is virtually no conversion of natural gas power plant emissions to feed the Algae but with 1.8 times the emissions surplus of coal over natural gas Coal is definitely the way to energize a better ROI. Yes expensive air filtration systems will need to be produced to convert the other unwanted oxidized materials out of the emissions. But the result is more productivity and higher ROI’s for the coal miners to be proud of.

As an Innovator I don’t take sides, it is not in my zen to take a side I prefer to work from both ends of the rope not just one. Each end to that rope may have an advantage the other side could use to their advantage, and since my curiosity is sometimes my Achilles heel, sure I can be frustrating at a picnic. Tug of war isn’t what I was known for; I will switch sides to see why or feel why or just sample the other teams’ efforts. I am curious I can’t help it, I live to observe and I like to sample everything I can. How many people do you know that drive around in the personal car with a box of test tubes?
