Akira is a classic animated sci/fi romp from 1988 based on the comics by Katsuhiro Otomo. Since the source material is the size of about five telephone books, the film had to make considerable changes to the story to allow it to be only 2 hours long. As good as the movie is, the comics are truly epic. A modern saga! And all available in the library you bet.

There are rumours of a live-action film being made. In the meantime though some fans crowdsourced the funds to make a film trailer for a hypothetical version modelled (apparently) scene-for-scene on the comics. Watch it ok! (It's a bit violent in places.) <Simon
