Pat made a statement on Retsutalk ep. 54 that clears all this fan name stuff up. Originally, we were called Frienders. That's what we called ourselves but it felt really dumb so that's when (I think) Woolie came up with calling everyone (the best friends and the fans together) the Zaibatsu.

Hmm, interesting, this I had no idea about, and I'm guessing a whole lot of other people didn't either. If it has been confirmed, than so it is.

While the definition of Zaibatsu can confirm that as being a possibility, as it mentions it thrives in influence and size, regardless, I also sort of assumed fans were either just fans or considered part of the Zaibatsu.
