“I’m not even sure what you want from me. I’m not terribly interested in Quidditch, you are a year older than me and in a different house, and I’m pretty sure you don’t need help with your homework so...?” Skye trailed off, glowering up at the older Gryffindor. She’d sat outside because it was a nice day and didn’t think that anyone was going to be bothering her.

“So how’s the Quidditch team this year? Are we going to win?” Wren asked. She didn’t enjoy flying around on a broomstick. Okay, she did a little bit, but not enough to have ever tried out for the Gryffindor team. Instead, she far preferred to watch and cheer her team on.

“Mr Riggins, if you are coming to me today to say that practice for the upcoming Quidditch match this week is a valued excuse for turning up late to my classes, you are mistaken.” While Niklaus himself could appreciate an enthusiastic Quidditch match, he did also have expectations he had for his students that he tried to ensure they upheld when it came to his classes. He only hoped that his students would do their best to uphold those expectations. “While you are talented, classes do count for something in the end.”

veronica looked up at tim, confused as to what he was talking about. she let him tug her towards the bathroom and her eyes widened when she saw the bubble bath that tim had set up. there were candles and rose petals strewn over the water. “you did all this for me?” she faced him and wrapped her arms around his neck, body pressing against his. “are you going to join me?”

He was tired of everyone coming to him and declaring that he didn’t know what he was doing, that he wasn’t aware of the consequences of his actions. Klaus had been around centuries, he’d seen empires fall, he’d been involved in the planning of wars far greater than this. Yet here these vampires stood telling him what he ought be doing. Tim was here for one person, on singular person and Klaus was here for his child, his siblings, those he cared about, his city, his legacy itself. He didn’t care what was lost in the process around him. “ Of course you would say that. I don’t care what you think is wrong or what’s right, I’ll do what I have to to make sure that those I care about aren’t lost in the crossfire of this war. “ and if he died plenty of others would die with him, what was he meant to do? Play a bloody fair game? “ You’ve never had legions of enemies out for your life, for the lives of those you care about, your entire sireline. If it ever does happen you come back to me and tell me you wouldn’t be as hellbent as I am. Although, let’s face it you’re not that important, are you? “

“Yep, that’s exactly what happened,” she nodded with her lips pursed in a straight line. “The cat witnessed a murder and now it’s my job to ask it questions. And protect it, in case it’s one of those ‘wrong place, wrong time’ type of situations.”

Being in the city wasn’t ideal. There was too many people. Too many eyes to see what she was doing. If she was going to survive, she needed money. Of course, she didn’t have any skills that were worth anything to the human world. Pick pocketing was easy. Distract anyone and have them focus on something else and their wallet or purse is yours. It was amazing how trusting people were of others.
So far Alana had gotten twenty dollars, enough to feed her for the day but not enough to buy the supplies she needed. Hopefully the next man down the street would have something she could use. Her shoulder collided with him and stealthily reached for his wallet, using her enhanced werewolf motor skills.
