I thought I’d make a tutorial since people apparently don’t know how to make simple text edits! Shout out to @tough-shitt for reposting my last edit and claiming it as his. 🙌
Disclaimer: I made a random edit with random lyrics because I was not feeling inspired. I also use Adobe Photoshop CC, get your hands on it if you can! Or be a lazy bum like the guy I @’ed above and steal from around the Internet, it will get you nowhere, will get you no clout but hey, at least you’re getting notes. 😔
So first you want to open Photoshop and hit cmd+N to create a New Document. Use 262 pixels for width if you want to make a two-image set: that way your image won’t be resized by tumblr and it will look the best. Also use 72 resolution, it’s useless otherwise! 72+ resolution are for prints, generally speaking. I decided to go for a square for this one.
First I set a nice, dark background, then I choose a highlight colour. This part is up to you! Generally in my edits, my font choices are always the same lol. Some good ole Arial in Bold and Italic.
As you can see, there’s a lot of leading (space between the lines). So I corrected that from the Character window. The leading is the one on the top right. I put it from 38pt to 16pt. Always try to go slightly above your type size (in my case, 12).
Alright that looks a bit better.
Next step we’re going to add a line under the the text. For that, use the Single Row Marquee Tool (it’s somewhere in your toolbar) and fill with your highlight colour.
I don’t want it to be the full length of the square though. So I’m going to hit cmd+R to get my rulers up and drag them to where I want my line to stop (limits of the text). Then I just delete the bit of the line that is outside those rulers.
That looks a bit better. Then I just add another piece of text mentioning the song title. Not a very inspiring or original choice, I just use capitalised Arial Italic (no Bold) and center it. Then, just because I can, I put it sliiiightly down so it’s not completely centered in the square.
Then I make the second one from the layers of the first one.
Voilà!
That was hard, it only took me about 10 minutes of my time!
His mind. 😩 Hopefully next time you’ll manage to make your own @tough-shitt ! 🖤
// Idk how long this has been here so apologies that I've just answered this right now Dx
Okay, so quick tutorial! So there's about three ways to do small text and I'll show you all of them.
When writing a post and such, you have the thing on the text edit tool bar all the way to the right. You click on that and basically you start with doing this
(Just do
and automatically the
comes up right after)
-That's for a paragraph break.
And after doing that, between
you write either , , or . They all create small text, but the difference is that sub lowers the text and sup lifts up the text. Either of them work though to make the text smaller.
So basically what you would do is this:
{ insert whatever text here }
{ again, works either way }
{ is handy when you want to do fancy stuff }
Okay so now I'll do it on actual html mode so you can see the outcome
{ insert text here }
{ again, works either way }
{ is handy when you want to do fancy stuff }
Awesome, right? I fear that I might have not explained this well, but I still hope that this helps you!
