I don't see this enough and it bothers me.
If y'all gon make a Ninjago Genderbent au like put some effort in y'all's names. What bothers me most is the way Kai's name is handled. Kaia.. bitch what!?
Here, I'll provide something creative. Akai.
Not only does it contain his actual name, but it also a pun. Aka, means red in Japanese: he is litteraly the red ninja. Akai is a Hindu name meaning to flourish: his first arc was him trying to activate his powers within him. He wanted to become master of fire and find his true potential, to flourish or flower into a new person.
For the others, not so much since they are mainly European centric. In Nya's case, it's a bit harder since it has to be primarily male name and something that has the essence of the pronunciation. I'd accept stuff like Neo, Nue or Nash since they are used Asian, primarily Chinese culture which I assumed what the writers were going for.
I mean, if you're gonna make a Genderbent, make names that fit with their personalities. Now, I know names don't make someone a certain personality but, like... Would you call female Cole, someone strong and independent and caring, gentle giant, pretty much the same as a woman... "Celine* no, right? You'd probably call her "Cal" or "Callie".
So I am absolutely NOT being petty about this and someone can't tell me otherwise.
So yeah, someone use this as a reference or just straight up rip the name. Goodnight
