i agree 100,000%. you are amazing, intelligent, pragmatic, and a nice person AND i respect you so much for your insight on radical feminism and transsexualism.

Whether or not you even have a concept of girl. (That said, it also bothers me when feminists act like gender is always the most destructive socialization - for me, disability-related oppression has always been a bigger deal)

i agree with this. i may have inadvertently done/said things that were seen as very “inappropriate” for my gender growing, but i still deeply internalized misogyny, and that’s even considering i had a very isolated childhood.

I think that women are subject to this type of discrimination, as visibly gender-nonconforming women (such as butch lesbians) are less likely to be hired than feminine women. Lesbian women have also been known to be evicted when landlords find out about their sexuality (lesbianism being a form of gender-nonconformity).

Thank you! I actually caught some sort of horrible virus almost immediately after my surgery, hence my absence being longer than I had said it would be, but I'm feeling much better now. I moved back to school a few days ago and now I'm back to being the crotchety grandma who finds it irritating when people enjoy themselves audibly.

Occasional dysphoria? Rare? All the time? Barely noticeable? Crippling? And not everyone experiences physical dysphoria. For some, they are only dysphoric based on how they are read, not on what their genitals are. You do not get to decide if someone is trans* enough.

Who are you to police someone’s blood pressure? Who are you to decide how high someone’s blood pressure must be to identify as having hypertension*? How high does someone’s blood pressure have to be for them to have hypertension* according to you? Not everyone with hypertension* experiences elevated blood pressure. You do not get to decide if someone has hypertension*.

This is almost certainly the first time that I have ever been called "graceful" in a sincere manner. I really am consistently amazed by how nice to me all of you are; thank you.

Some of my favorites are Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, M83, Beach House, and the Shins. I have a hard time thinking of favorite authors too for some reason; Andrea Dworkin would be a cop out answer because I’ve mentioned her so many times, so I suppose I’ll go with Aimee Bender.

i have no idea where this commentary about Asperger's is coming from. I'm assuming these "communities" frequently mentioned are those of internet forums & Tumblr. You cannot be "severely" Aspie. You either have low or high functioning autism. That FTM situation sounds like someone mistaking transsexualism and gender non-conformity. Auties often have trouble complying with social norms - it's not obvious what is socially acceptable & what isn't & why we should care. That's not = to being trans.
