To Fight a God AU - Septem

Septem, my beloved. And well... quite detested by many. Something that probably won't change when you find Him in your way on the battlefield.

Hys goal is simple in concept: Save the Garden. Unfortunately this conflicts with your mission. But perhaps there's a solution to be found.

Finding Septem

On your first breaths within the Hotel, you are guaranteed to find Septem at the dining tables with Unum, and can continue to find hymn at the tables with Unum, Sextam, or even Tria and Sextam together. Hachi also has a chance to find hymn in her bedroom if they are partners.

If that's not enough of Him, you will eventually find hymn in hys own domain - the third region to fight through - as the boss. And sorry, He won't go easy on you.

Relationship with Septem

The relationship with Septem is complicated. You are duty bound to Nulla, but through Hachi, you might be able to procure something. A respect for you, at least. (This element of the story is still being ironed out.) You will have to put Hachi through some painful experiences - is it worth that price?

Septem can go to any hangout with the player (once unlocked). Hys preferred date is the library, where He will read to you. He will not share food with you and does not cuddle back in bed.

To start dating Him, you must gift Him a special candle as Hachi.

His story won't be exactly the same as the original game - changes have to be made for the format of this story. You don't want to replay all those boss fights just to change the romance subplot, do you?

Septem's Gifts and Blessings

When you give Septem a gift, He will reciprocate with two gifts, unlike everyone else. The first one you get is hys Journal. This only allows you to keep track of in game information, and does not help in combat, unlike everyone else's gifts. Afterwards, Hy will give you a warding book. Carrying this with you will increase your damage resistance.

When you become a partnership, Hy will gift you a part of hys soul, which manifests as a little pin on Hachi's sweater. When you use the ability of this pin, you will be completely invulnerable for 7 seconds.

Hys blessings deal with resistance and defense.

If Septem is the third boss.. does that mean the player will end up killing him? I know even if the player is dating him the story won’t change much, but it is curious to think about

You do in fact kill Him - you need to have his essence to move into the Mindscape - though the situation is a bit nuanced.

The game operates similarly to a time loop, or perhaps you can think of the Hotel at being outside of normal time. So as soon as you die and respawn, everyone you killed is regenerated with you. Everyone remembers any activities you did with them in the Hotel, but forgets everything you've done in the battlefield. For example, Unum has no idea you fought him, but it'll remember you spent the previous evening in the restaurant. After defeating Septem, you can find hymn chilling at the dining tables in the lobby.

However, Septem is one of the few exceptions¹ to the memory gaps. He knows you killed hymn because He read it, not because hy experienced it. Yes, it frustrates hymn TREMENDOUSLY.

I am currently poking through the idea that Septem's route is... not a proper one. He is only humoring you, as you are forced to play Nulla's route no matter what. Septem is a sidequest, just some checklist to complete for those who care. And He is aware of this. So your relationship is fated to be strange.

I am contemplating His being a pseudo-dating route, where you're not really dating, Septem is only humoring you per my request. If I go this route, it will implicate my own yumeship, however, so I'm not sure if I will incorporate this, even if it may be easier.

To Fight a God AU questions upcoming for you, but some are likely very obviously self-indulgent because I'm like that (I'm [not] sorry).

hshshs okie so first off, I've been curious for awhile ngl, but what would either the puppets or others characters reactions be if the Player physically appeared within this version of the game world? (self-indulgent question alert /silly) This is mostly for the self-aware ones (okay maybe mostly Laruae, Hachi, [looks at Kreadore sadly in knowing...] Nulla, and maybe Neo and so on...), but I'm curious if some of their reactions would match up to canon or not (looking at Neo when I say this part /silly). :3c

Uhhh next, I know we likely can't date the puppets (sobs in a corner), but can we at least befriend them or show them some appreciation for... Well, being our puppets hshshs ? Also curious if Laruae and Hachi would be able to "talk" to us during the game ? [Looks at Kreadore sadly in knowing again... /silly]

I'll answer your second set of questions first, since it's a shorter answer.

I haven't planned a way to date your puppet, but you can absolutely befriend Hachi and Laruae.

They do! In contrast to Kreadore talking aloud to itself, Hachi and Laruae will often address you directly. Unfortunately, because of the ideal version of this game having voice acting, there will be a lot of moments where they want to say your name, but are forced to say "Player" or just leave a blank.

Nulla: He'd be so delighted to have you, possibly smothering you with affection, though he would be a little sad because now you're both stuck in this world.

Septem: He'd have a million things he'd want to know and understand. Who made your body? Who cast the spell? Are you as powerful as Hypates? Can you be harmed? Will the game continue to function as it did when you were more of an observer? Do you feel pain? Will your body rot? Is it even human? What happens when you die? Do you need to eat?

Neo: Wow, now you're stuck in this game, huh? Were you that desperate to find a place to fit in? How embarrassing, jaja. What are you going to do now? You have less power than you did before, no?

Laruae: I think xe'd be uncomfortable. Xe's not sure how to interact with you now that you're well. No longer possessing xem.

Hachi: Oh this is her luckiest day. You're there in the flesh and she has control over herself? Please oh please, let her adore you, let her utterly smother you with everything good she can offer.

Hypates: "Hm erm well uh... That wasn't supposed to happen!" - Now xie has to figure out how to fit you into the story better than before... Now xie can't even send you funny memes on discord!

And as a bonus, Unum: Erm... well he's very confused. You might have to re-explain the whole "player" thing to him.
