Colton: Text me to tell me you're okay. Please.
Christmas Shopping
He had a list written on the back of a receipt, of ideas for presents. As he walked into town, he went over it, wondering if he should have been more specific. Cursing the sleep-deprived him of last night who had written it, he began thinking further on what to get.
• Tod - Something to cheer him up? Booze? • Isabelle - BOOKS?? What books? old books?? • Cassie - flowers :) • Theo - a hug and a bottle of cheap liquor
He decided that Belle's was the easiest, so he went to the nearest book shop and promptly realised that it was not in fact easy at all, and that the number of books in this shop surely outnumbered stars in the sky. She liked classics, he remembered, so went to that section. He hasn't realised how many there were - surely if they were classic there shouldn't be a lot of them, he had thought. But apparently not. Soon enough he had picked out a book called Emma that reminded him of the last one she'd leant him, so she would probably like it if she hadn't already read it.
Next he went to the offie and resisted buying himself something, instead choosing a bottle of whiskey for Theo that he remembered they'd drank together at Christmas a few years ago. Whilst he was there, he got in some drinks and grenadine that would be necessary in the cocktails he was going to try to make for Tod. Maybe he could pull that off as a part of his present. He wasn't sure what else to get him.
It was only on his way to get flowers when he passed a place you could get all sorts of things personalised that he had an idea. He went in and left fifteen minutes later with a mug with TOD written on it in cursive. That would do, he decided. Having bought Cassie's lilies, he hesitated, and then bought another bunch, this time of sunflowers. Though he had not intended to buy Bradley anything, Colton had just seen them and thought of him.
He stopped by the off-licence again, and bought a bottle of wine for Maslowe (because frankly he deserved it) and then set off home, understandably exhausted and upsettingly skint.
"You never know how strong you are until strong is the only choice you have."
Okay, this was the last time he was allowing himself to drink this month, as it seemed that he'd done little else recently. And, he'd only budgeted twenty-five pounds, including any sort of bus or cab fare, so unless he ended up going home with somebody, that was barely twenty quid's worth of drinks. This was it though, absolutely, and... Did he have a bottle of rum in the drawer at home? He'd have to check.
Then somebody cleared their throat, and he turned to look, seeing a pretty blonde girl sat on the stool next to him. "Oh, uh, hello," he greeted carefully. "Nice evening, isn't it?."
