One of the children that ran up and down the halls of the hospital left a small rubber ball which Caroline gratefully took and threw it against the wall. She'd seen enough television to know that if you throw it at the right angle the ball can come back to you, but she was ultimately failing and the nurses kept giving her dirty looks for disrupting the person in the room next to hers. The ball flew across the room and she followed it with her eyes as it landed by the feet of a very familiar redhead. "Hey," she smiled as she settled back in her bed.
