CONSIDER WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE FOR YOUR CHARACTER BEFORE THE REBELLION AND BEFORE THEY TURNED 21 AND HAD TO GO TO A BDSM ACADEMY LIKE TGA: The Fabray family is a family that is rooted in religion and maintaining a perfect image to the public. The household was strict with high expectations for any and everything. The Fabray daughters were often pitted against each other as a means to push them to go beyond those expectations placed on their shoulders. Quinn was often held up on a pedestal in her father's eyes, the favorite golden child. Her father's favor allowed her to get away with things that her other sisters' might not have. She was subtly malicious, using people to get ahead in life and having little regard for their feelings before they even realized it was happening. She knew how to easily manipulate people as well as public perception of herself so that no matter what anyone said about her negatively, it was never believed.

Russell owns a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company that has ties to fraud, harassment claims, and supplying drugs/painkillers to underprivileged communities across the country. 

 WHAT WAS YOUR CHARACTER’S LIFE LIKE WHILE THEY WERE AT SCHOOL BEFORE THE REBELLION?: Quinn settled into school with all of the ease she was used to in life. She garnered plenty of attention from Dominants during her time at school.  She was particularly picky with who she would allow in her presence and who she spent her time with. She gained the title as one of the the brattiest submissive as she enjoyed pushing people's buttons and seeing just how much she could get away with. She eventually did calm down the longer she was at school as she found a Dominant that made her feel comfortable in her submission, letting her grow into her mark in a way that was very Quinn like. 

 WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER THINK ABOUT THE OLD WAYS? WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER THINK ABOUT THE REBELLION?: The old ways provided Quinn with the structured that she needed so she didn't find herself with a lot of idle time on her hands, which always led her into trouble. She has a mild indifference towards the rebellion and what happened afterwards. Of course it affected the people around her, but she is choosing to hold off and see how things turn out before fully forming her opinion.

Quinn spent a few months trying to wrap her head around what her life was going to be now that was unclaimed and the world had changed around her. She never got a chance to make any sort of real decisions for herself because Russell made the decision for her, deciding that she was reenroll to find herself a proper claim once again.

Friends with benefits. Someone for her to torment as she never quite shook her mean girl ways and she needs an outlet for her frustration. The Lauders were a middle class family with enough to survive, his parents were a claimed pair that lived life with barely any structure and did everything together and were happy doing it. They were a bit like the family in Matilda, focusing on each other, praising each other, enjoying what each other could do for each other, watching a lot of tv, eating a lot of trashy food, while isolating and neglecting Harold because they thought he was weird. His oldest sister ended up becoming a Domme and she bullied him relentlessly, with and without her power, before and after her mark. His other sister ended up becoming a Submissive and was no better. She didn’t bully him, but she did tease him with their family and she made a bad name for Submissives in his eyes yet he was jealous of her because people still liked her even if she was a snotty brat. 

His solace was writing, and the woman that was his older sister’s best friend and his babysitter while he was growing up. Unattainable was an understatement, but he liked her anyway. She was nice to him, and she seemed like the only person that was. In his home, he was a pariah and the same could be said outside of it too. Because of the neglect, he didn’t really take showers like he was supposed to and because children are mean, he was bullied in school. He was a laughingstock. “At least you’re not Harold.” “It’s Harold’s fault.” To keep his sanity, he continued to write, jotting out short horror stories to send in for publication. Because nothing could ever go right in Harold’s life, he was rejected every time, but even that couldn’t bring him too far down for too long because his crush existed. She had told him to keep writing, praised his talents, and urged him to put each rejection on a nail in the wall in his bedroom and then move on to write the next and try again, because he was going to make it and when he did, he’d be able to look back. It was almost nice to tack up a new rejection letter because it meant that he could think about her. 

When he turned 18, he hoped he’d be able to get out of the house but his parents wouldn’t let him and people still belong to their parents like children until 21, so he had no choice but to continue to live in hell. When he turned 21, that was supposed to be what made his life better. That was supposed to be his golden ticket to freedom. But his family sent him to the same BDSM academy as his sisters and most of the people he’d known all of his life. They wouldn’t let him travel and he had no choice but to continue to live in hell. Still, he put his best foot forward and invested more time in health and hygiene. He even approached his crush about his feelings for her, but she rejected him completely and his heart was shattered. When she started dating someone new, he felt himself sour.

Again, he thought he’d found his salvation when a female Submissive started to talk to him. She lavished him in attention and praise, then manipulated him with her body. What he didn’t know was that she was already with a Dominant and they were messing with him, wanting to humiliate him and use him for their own personal gain then leave him to take the fall. When she asked him to make her drugs, he started cooking drugs. When that money wasn’t enough for them, she asked him to rob the Administration building. At this point, she was no longer nice, she beat and bullied him in between sleeping with him and they hated each other, but he was under her spell. She knew how to rile him up and manipulate him. It was easy to remind him that there was nobody else that would give him this kind of attention. It was while he was making plans for that that he found out about the woman’s Dominant. Feeling betrayed, he took the announcement of family night as an omen and a sign. When he’d been planning the robbery, he knew he couldn’t get weapons inside a BDSM academy, so he had been planning on making and setting up bombs and using them as the threat to get the money. You can make a bomb with household items, and he was a smart man that knew these kinds of weird things. What he did instead was rig the auditorium and set it off as soon as he saw his sisters walking in with his parents. He was full of rage, jealousy, entitlement, and despair. Who else was going to give him a chance? It made no sense to anyone with morals to kill people over a girl, but it wasn’t really just about a girl. It would never be right, he would never be able to make up for it and once he found the error in his ways he would never forgive himself, but he wasn’t in his right mind and he is still very mentally ill and traumatized. His heart has been poisoned by hatred. 

The only people inside were his family, the woman and her Dominant, a few people from high school, and Nick Andros who was there solely to help out and set things up. His family died,  and the woman, her Dominant, Nick and he himself were injured, but nobody else was hurt. His plan was for more people, but he’d gotten too eager when he had seen his family because he was unstable, too unstable to follow a plan and too unstable to not let emotions get the better of him. He was found quickly and luckily, the rebellion came, because otherwise Harold would have been facing much harsher punishments for his crime. Instead, the woman and her Dominant died while trying to rob the rebellion themselves and Harold was tried under the new laws. He had to face Nick in court and the government gave the Dominant a settlement for his troubles. Harold was given no settlement, instead he was sent to a mental health facility where he had to complete a program and serve community service. He’s just been released to attend a BDSM academy so that he can be re-educated too. The conditions are that he continues his community service, continues therapy, goes only to TGA because it is the strictest academy, and boards at McKinley with extra guards around with the addition of bomb-sniffing dogs on campus.

CONSIDER WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE FOR YOUR CHARACTER BEFORE THE REBELLION AND BEFORE THEY TURNED 21 AND HAD TO GO TO A BDSM ACADEMY LIKE TGA: While Quinn was always the golden child, Bellamy strove for perfection in her own way. It wasn’t an option, it was demanded. From the time she was little, her talent on the ice rink had been praised and lauded as pure excellence. The rigorous schedule of a skater kept her out of trouble and insanely focused on bringing home gold. Said schedule also kept her out of her home more often than not. She had the best coach that money could buy and that, coupled with the diligence and drive she possessed, fast tracked her to nationals. By the age of 16 she joined team USA and they brought home gold. Russell couldn’t have been more pleased. She went back into her life of juggling academics and rink time and four years later found herself back in the Olympics. Bellamy brought home gold in women’s singles but despite her own high score during the team event, team USA brought home silver. Although it wasn’t her fault, Russell saw this silver medal as a stain on the family’s name and took her to the rink upon her arrival home to work the submissive until it quite literally broke her. Falling mid air during a triple axel, Bellamy sustained an injury to the spine that left her temporarily paralyzed. 

WHAT WAS YOUR CHARACTER’S LIFE LIKE WHILE THEY WERE AT SCHOOL BEFORE THE REBELLION?: By the time she was 21, she still couldn’t walk. Instead of sending her to the school Quinn went to, they sent her to Braxton Academy. Braxton wasn’t just a finishing school for BDSM, it was also a rehabilitation for those with disabilities where she was able to get the care she needed to regain full mobility of the lower half of her body. It took her a few years but by the time she was confidently back on her feet, her father insisted that she go to a school that was for “normal people.” She found this incredibly offensive but she didn’t feel like she had much of a choice so she found herself at McKinley. Since her days as an Olympian she’d become a little bitter and guarded. She no longer catered to every little thing that everyone wanted of her- she was cheeky, opinionated, stubborn, and a bit of a pain in the ass. She was still diligent, reliable, and clever. Bellamy knew exactly how to charm others should she choose- she wore a smile like a loaded gun. When the rebellion hit, she still wasn’t in a claim. She was having fun exploring every kink under the sun while getting herself into some trouble for sassing more often than not.

The strict household was dominated by that solid structure and those harsh consequences for any misstep taken. After her injury, when things seemed bleak, and she no longer cared about being the perfect anything, Bellamy found she wasn’t fond of the old ways, she felt suffocated by the strict rules and absurdly defined structure. She had more of a free spirit that needed room to explore and grow outside the bounds of what she’d once known.

The children of a well known Congressman, Burt Hummel, the Hummel siblings grew up knowing all about politics, and the way they ruled and moved their world. Especially when it came down to the Dominant/submissives dynamics. And his family respected them all. They were never involved in any major scandal because they knew how to follow the rules. They weren’t a powerful family, just one with a respectful position all in all.

Kurt has always marched to his own drummer and he reveled in it. He enjoyed that he was different, even if it meant other people didn’t like it. He gave opinions not everyone agreed with, argued for others who couldn’t fight for themselves, and made his stances well known to anyone who wanted to hear them. He fought for the little guy and fought for the voiceless. Overall, Kurt has a big heart and is always willing to help a friend, no matter what the cost to himself. Kurt was well known to put others first - whether it was friends, family or someone he just met, there was nothing he would not do to help.

Kurt learned from a very early age to stand for himself, especially considering he suffered from heavy bullying during high school, always trying to focus on the things he loved doing: fashion design and performing. No one was surprised when at the age of 18 he received his submissive mark on the wrist, and even if he was happy with that, the downside of it all was that he couldn’t really pursue the other things he wanted in life, mainly going to college in New York, most specifically Pace University.

Then the rebellion happened and everything turned upside down. He returned back home as soon as possible to make sure his dad was okay, and also while he waited for things to calm down. And when it did, he was shock to see his mark had turned into one with a capital S, of Switch. That, and the knowledge he had to go to the infamous Dalton Academy was daunting in many ways. But also it made it very interesting, especially knowing that now things were different, and with a new mark on his wrist, he was definitely curious as to how things could be from now on.

From an early age, Riley was shown a standard of excellence that he always strove to meet. His memory helped with that. Growing up, the Duval parents used competition as a means to inspire them all, very obviously wanting to end up with at least one more Dominant child in the youngest triplet set after Nick’s 18th birthday proved him to be a Dominant. The Duval family was known for their stock of submissives, they were all promised to the Clarington Dominants, but Nick had already broken the mold and they wondered what they might be able to do with that. What could they gain out of three Dominant children? Dominants were the ones that made dynasties. He honestly knew he’d never be a Dominant, and he was glad that he wouldn’t have that kind of responsibility to live up to, but there was no way around competition in the Duval family. Even if he was meant to be a submissive, he was meant to be the best submissive. He showed so much promise academically that they had him tested and he proved to have an eidetic memory. His parents were a little worried though, because he was a little too social and trusting. It was very likely that he would walk into even the most obvious of bad situations with a smile on his face and friendliness at heart. It was often the topic of conversation between the adults of the Duval and Clarington family, who were very close to one another and often claimed the submissives in each other’s families. One day, when he was about eight years old, he climbed up a tree and fell from the tallest branch. He showed signs of erratic behavior when he became conscious again, and almost immediately quieted down. He changed drastically. Sometimes, it seemed like he didn’t even want to be near his own family.

It got to the point that they had to take Riley in to have a doctor check him out. They took him to a shrink, thinking that he was suffering from some sort of pre-mark depression or something. He never seemed to make eye contact with anyone. He forgot people’s names. Even Campbell, the Clarington he was promised to as a claim. He was always quiet, always obedient, but when it came to bringing things to other people, or socializing, he was useless. It began to affect his schooling and he went from having many friends to having none.

It took years to diagnose, they found out right before he was marked as a submissive, but finally someone caught the symptoms and his family was introduced to the idea that he might be suffering from prosopagnosia; a condition known as “face blindness” that affects the areas of the brain that are responsible for memorizing and recognizing facial features. From then on, his parents isolated him, choosing to homeschool him and try to keep him away from everyone else. While that might seem like pacifying behavior, they didn’t take him away to spend his time at a day spa. They trained him, because they knew that he was going to have a difficult time in the real world and they didn’t want to let him out unprepared. This training was harsh and difficult, purposefully pushing him to the edge of his abilities and then even further just to be sure that he could handle the pressure. It was less about him as their son, the person, and more about him as their son, someone carrying on the Duval name. To the Duval parents, their name was the most important thing. Anyone carrying their name was a representation of themselves. That made them to push him further than most parents would be willing to push their own child.

Because of his condition, to which there is no cure, Riley is very prone to dependent behavior. It’s very difficult to socialize. He tries to be carefree, but it’s very easy for him to be overcome with anxiety. He wants to do well and he wants to live up to his parent’s expectations, but the moment he found himself in a school where everyone was wearing basically the same thing, it felt like he was drowning in a sea of clones. It’s easiest for him to socialize online, because he can think of people as their user names, and use that as his first outstanding feature. When it comes to face to face interaction, he’s much more shy.

When the rebellion came, they were already claimed so he stayed by Campbell’s side gladly and became even more dependent. He still did all of his chores as a submissive and took care of the both of them, but he was completely dependent on the day to day socialization. He felt lost when Campbell was anywhere he couldn’t reach out and touch her. He was sure someone would hurt one or both of them, or someone they loved, and with face blindness... anyone and everyone in every single place he ever went felt hostile. Anyone and everyone could be an enemy. Anyone and everyone could attack at any moment. When the rebellion ended, he was absolutely sure that he hated all of it and was incredibly upset about the way things went down. He didn’t want freedom, he didn’t want to lose the life that he had been given. There was supposed to be stability found in being a Duval, because it was supposed to mean that he always knew who and what he was and who he belonged to, but the world seemed to want to consistently give him conflicting information. Be a sub. Be a Dom. Show everyone you’re better. Isolate and train. You’re a slave. You’re free. At the end of it all, Campbell let Riley go explore--- or as much as he could, considering the fact that everyone was going to have to go back to an academy. 

It was a nice gesture and the thought behind it was very moving, but Riley is not the type of person that can exist on his own without anxiety. Face blindness means he cannot interpret facial details and therefore cannot distinguish people or identify who they are. He found himself in a new academy that he’d never been to before, surrounded by strangers, and it was honestly the most terrifying experience he’s ever been through. If freedom was a class, he failed miserably and is being sent to The Academy because the other academy did not have the help he requires.

Riley was born the second oldest to a Dominant mother. She has never met her father, and has no desire to do so. As far as she’s concerned he’s nothing more than a sperm donor. While Riley understood that they lived in a M/s society, it wasn’t something that she saw at home. Her mother worked long hours to provide for them, and never really had a serious relationship with anyone to the point where she wanted to introduce them to her children. Despite this, she tried her best to make sure her children were prepared for the Master/Mistress and slave marks that they would receive to the best of her ability.

Growing up with a single parent, Riley quickly found herself stepping up and taking charge to make sure her siblings were taken care of while their mother worked, even though they were the same age. She would make sure they ate, got sleep, anything she could. As a child she was a social butterfly, got good grades- though not straight A’s, and enjoyed taking dance classes. Money was tight at times, and in her early teen years Riley started to make homemade natural bath and shower products as a way to try and save money while being able to treat herself. Many of her friends found out and encouraged her to sell them. Riley began selling them shortly there after and has enjoyed making a profit on her hobby.

When Riley was 18, she received the Dominant mark. It brought conflicting feelings up for her. She couldn’t picture herself as being one of those mean Dommes she’d heard about or seen at times. Was she destined to be alone like her mother? At the same time, she was relieved it was not a slave mark, and vowed to do anything she could to protect her siblings if they got one.

Riley attended college as the rebellion was taking place getting her bachelors degree in psychology. At this time, she thinks she wants to get her masters degree and eventually be a therapist. Pre-rebellion she had thought maybe she would be able to counsel or help abused slaves somehow. Now, between the abuse that occurred, the war, and the new mark she thinks in the coming years mental health services will have an even greater demand.

Recently, she realized that her Dominant mark had now become a Switch mark. Like much of society, she’s not sure what this new mark all means. Will she lean Dominant and claim? Will she be submissive and be claimed? A combination of both? Riley has no clue what the future has in store fort her, but is looking forward to finding out.

Confident. Charismatic. Intense. Passionate. Kind. Loyal. Vain. Unwavering morals. A perfectionist. Gaston likes to be in control, and that includes of himself, he tries to be logical and not be ruled by his heart or emotions. He is meticulous in everything he does and is practically incapable of ‘half assing’ something to the point where even his home is kept neat and tidy and everything has a proper place. He enjoys: a good glass of wine, going to the spa, going to shows like Broadway and similar, dancing, sex, cooking, and reading. He dislikes: Americanized French food, beets, grape flavored anything. Gaston has had a fear of failure ever since he was young.

Gaston is the type of man who would hold open the door for someone, or offer assistance to someone in need. He enjoys interacting with people no matter if that is having coffee with a friend or hosting an elaborate party. He is extremely loyal and devoted to friends. While he enjoys listening to others, at times he can secretive and have trouble opening up, especially if he doesn’t know someone well. His submissives will get to see the sides of him no one else really sees, which for Gaston includes insecurity or sadness, it’s not easy for him to let others see his confidence crack. Gaston values honesty, and in being honest with others can sometimes come across as blunt or uncaring—but he cares a lot.

Gaston was born and raised in Lyon, France to two Dominant parents. Each of his parents had two claimed submissives who were like second parents to him and his two siblings. He learned from watching his parents treat their submissives with respect and kindness that that was the kind of Dominant he wanted to be.

His parents were well known in France, as they were involved in politics, leaving their submissives to do most of the child raising and chores. Gaston enjoyed being with them, and it was them who taught him how to cook, something he enjoys to this day. The Lefevre family did not want for anything, they came from old money, and Gaston will admit he was spoiled as a child.

When he was 18, he moved to the United States to earn his undergrad degree in pre-med. It wasn’t easy to do in three years, but Gaston had never been one to shy away from hard work. After that, he attended a BDSM academy. To a point, the Master classes were easy for him, he always had enjoyed rules, structure and being in control. But, he had never and would never be someone who would use his position to abuse someone else in any way.  He had the respect of some of his peers and some teachers because he upheld rules of respect and would not allow a slave to disrespect him, but there were also some who did not agree with his methods because he refused to punish without just cause and without asking what the slave’s limits were.

It was Gaston’s hatred of Masters feeling like they needed to be abusive which prompted him to intervene when he saw a slave being abused. That slave was Lorelai, and ever since then the two have been inseparable. Gaston claimed her and the two graduated. Consent is, and always will be, a cornerstone of their relationship.

Once that was complete, Gaston continued his education to be a doctor, and eventually graduated with a specialty in emergency medicine. He worked at a local hospital, and when he found out about the rebellion, knew that he needed to help. The Lefevre’s have donated a significant amount of money to the rebellion over the years, and have done everything they could to help the cause, being a safe haven for those abused when they could. Gaston has made many house calls for rebellion members or abused slaves who feared repercussions of going to the hospital. It was long hours, and at times he feared for Lorelai’s safety. What if someone did something to her to get back at him for helping an abused slave? But, they made it through. Together.

Despite his support of the rebellion, there was a fear of his that they would hear about the extensive rules Lorelai had during his questioning, and consider him abusive. After talking with them both, he was deemed safe, and the two of them have been sent to The Academy. While he is a bit irritated that they have had their claim annulled and must go back to school, he understands why and knows that he and Lorelai will have no problems. Gaston hopes the two of them can show others what a good, healthy, loving claim relationship can look like. Gaston has requested that he and Lorelai be allowed to share a suite.

The Sterling family has always been known not only for their fathers' political notoriety and their mother's known name in the art world. but for their very public family dynamics. Although the Sterling children grew up in the public eye, their parents were never terribly strict or overbearing. The home was filled with love and laughter, and all the children were supported endlessly. Although their parents did prepare them a bit for the outside world, needing their submissive children to be prepared for the treatment they would endure. Liam has always been a bit soft, however, and his family knew he would struggle in the world under the old laws. The entire Sterling family is also musical in some way, all of them singers, dancers, or performers. Liam can dance, but his true passion is music. He is shy to sing in front of others, though he does play several instruments extremely well, including piano and guitar.

As a submissive, Liam's life prior to the rebellion was not one anyone would have or should have envied. He did not have a great time, despite excelling at school and academics. He has a true heart of service, and that helped him to get through during his time at TGA in the past. However, that did not get him away from all trouble and run-ins with 'monster doms'.

Liam respects the old ways, as that is how he was taught to believe, and how he was expected to behave. However, he is grateful for the new ways, and for the chance to explore different sides of things. In a way, he is nervous for the newfound 'freedom', but is ultimately excited for the prospects. :

Yes, Liam was graduated before the actual laws began to change. He left TGA as a claimed submissive, but unfortunately had been claimed by a true monster Dom. the claim was toxic and abusive, and Liam has been left quite scarred from the experience. Although he would love to be in another claim, one with love this time, he is nervous to fall into the wrong hands again.
