Crazy that Xie Lian is blamed by history for the fall of Xianle and even the royal mausoleum does not let him enter when he wasn't even the king. Xie Lian was the crown prince but he was not the ruler yet he's blamed. He was only able to lent his powers to physically assist the people. The administrative decisions were not his.

Tbf, I doubt the royal mausoleum “knows” who is responsible for the fall of the nation so much as it simply blames the family that was in power when the fall happened. But also, if Xie Lian was a mortal, this might not have affected him the way it did as an immortal.

In regards to the citizens: fuck them. As for everyone else, I’m looking forward to seeing how the convo between Xie Lian and his parents play out in Vol. 4 given the massive reduction of their roles in Vol. 2 plus the much healthier portrayal of Xie Lian’s relationship with his father pre-first banishment.

blackwater arc has so much depth that it deserves its own novel. I want to know your opinion about the next step of a mortal wind master. Do you think he should exact revenge and if so who he should get it from?

It does not need its own novel. Everything that needed to be said and done was said and done in the novel lol. And making the novel about Shi Qingxuan? For why??? Nothing happens to or with him until the Blackwater arc; even he acknowledges that his ascension story is lackluster compared to everyone else’s. There’s no reason for him to “exact revenge” either. He was not the harmed party. He Xuan was the harmed party. Shi Qingxuan was the beneficiary. And the way that you don’t even know who he “should” get revenge from is kinda your own tell that you know that revenge isn’t his to exact.

Anyways, mxtx says he goes on to live life as a mortal with his broken arm and leg that he refuses to heal. The end.

People simping for Mu Qing and Fengxin for reasons... ( I knew Mu Qing is the TGCF poor meow meow)

Me slowly after reading 18 chapters of TGCF: Can the Junior Officials of these two motherfuckers just shut the fuck up? These two irritated the hell out of me by being so holier-than-thou and just obnoxious. Were Xuan Zhen and Nan Yang parts of Mu Qing and Fengxin's consciousness? Because if that were the case, yeah no, Mu Qing and Fengxin are so annoying to me.

(People may thought I dislike these two because of how they treated Xie Lan. Joke of them, I dislike them because of how they treated others. Peak classist behavior!!!)

I keep seeing people joke about Shi Qingxuan having the worst day of his life, meanwhile Hualian are just smooching off to the side without a care in the world. And I somewhat expected that to be the case, when I finally read it (I am bad at avoiding spoilers,) but it's...not like that all???

I don't know how people read Xie Lian trying to siphon spiritual energy back from Hua Cheng, so he could do the Soul-Shifting Spell again and get back to Shi Qingxuan as 'lol, they're smooching during the horrors, so silly.'

People don't read the novel, just shitposts and memes from social media that they think is equivalent to reading the novel. 100s of pages, dozens of chapters detailing Xie Lian going out of his way to help Shi Qingxuan, getting attacked by demons pulling on his worst fear, going against the other gods to break Shi Qingxuan out of the heavens, and going against Hua Cheng's advice to do all this, but yeah, all of that was just coffin scene and making out 🤷🏽‍♀️

Slight confession but when I first read tgcf I didn't pick up that Nan Feng and Fu Yao were Feng Xin and Mu Qing. I was kind of hoping that Xie Lian became friends with them and Mu Qing and Feng Xin would realize that maybe they were being really shitty towards Xie Lian after their middle court officers would stand up for Xie Lian or something. Honestly the pair just felt like children who just said whatever their parents said without knowing how hateful and/or wrong it was, hence after knowing Xie Lian they get radicalized (realizing that heaven and their generals kind of sucks)

I knew Nan Feng and Fu Yao were really Feng Xin anf Mu Qing the moment Feng Xin and Mu Qing were officially introduced. They act exactly like their aliases, constantly confuse their own identities, and the whole Banyue arc was essentially Hua Cheng going, "You want to 'expose' my identity? Maybe you should worry about your own masks being ripped off." "Nan Feng" and "Fu Yao" were also just as shitty to Xie Lian as their real counterparts were, so I had no interest in them becoming friends.

Shi Wudu has always had shooters out here 🤣 I usually see his apologia from beefleaf shippers, but this is certainly not my first brush with people who think he’s a good guy who only “made a mistake out of desperation.” Because if they acknowledge that what Shi Wudu did to the He family was evil, malicious, and WHOLLY AVOIDABLE, then they’d have to accept that He Xuan’s revenge was, if not proportional (which I say it was), then sympathetic and understandable, which means they’d also have to accept that Shi Qingxuan’s ending is what he, too, deserved. So Shi Wudu gets whitewashed to preserve the sanctity of a fanon ship.

I once saw someone on twt says they don’t like hualian because they “prefer their relationships 50:50” and their main argument was that xl doesn’t reciprocate hua cheng’s devotion and love as much as hc. their main reasons listed were mainly hc’s material displays of affection (e.g 3000 lanterns scene, armoury etc) but like that’s such a shallow look into their relationship + hc literally doesn’t care about money and loves giving xie lian small and big luxuries that he’s been deprived of from his 800 years living in poverty. that criticism just viewed their relationship so transactionally i can’t believe people think like that especially since this is a fantasy romance novel

You would think there wasn't a whole main story and extra about how Hua Cheng isn't materialistic and only collects things as gifts for Xie Lian but has no desire for them himself, which culminates in Xie Lian struggling to think of what to get his husband for his birthday because Hua Cheng literally wants for nothing. Dating discourse is ruining people's perception of actual romance if they think that showering someone in material wealth is the pinnacle of displays of devotion (or that the 3,000 lanterns scene is about material wealth to begin with and not Hua Cheng literally worshipping his god).
