It's boom stomp clap music, but I like it idc
Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell Begonias (2005) … if they would only make another …
Thad Cockrell is sure making some good, grown-up music of late. He's not letting himself -- or us -- slide by on delusions or false hope.
And yet, his is some of the most hopeful and uplifting music you'll ever hear.
There is hope and strength and wholeness in the face of a bad breakup. When you hear it said, the sentiment sounds stale and prepackaged for the Age of Instagram.
But when you feel it in a song that says none of those things, you understand that a tremendously gifted artist and fellow flawed human is carrying you, for just a little bit, on a long, exhausting journey.
This is Thad Cockrell with "Slow and Steady".

Back when eMusic was cool, I found this album a year after it had been released. I was mystified as to why they should label it "alt-country", because it was the most country thing I had heard since Hee Haw had gone off the air.
If the real thing ever comes back, some up-and-comng artist would do well to cover this one.
Here's That Cockrell with, "She Ain't No You".
