Thadd vs Link! A battle to save Hateno Village!

Thadd of Hateno Village

Thadd is one of the first people you meet when going to Hateno Village in Breath of the Wild. He guards the entrance to the Village in that game. In Tears of the Kingdom, he becomes a guard a Lookout Landing!

In Breath of the Wild, he's cautious of our arrival at Hateno Village.

Though, being Hylian seems to be enough to pass his vibe check (are there races that he doesn't trust? Or is he just there to keep monsters out?).

He cares a lot about his village and encourages tourism, despite the harsh introduction.

Though, he doesn't seem to like Purah very much.

It makes you wonder if Purah used to have any friends in the village.

Thadd is not one to give tours. He tells us to ask Seldon instead.

He's married to Tamana (the egg lady), and he's the father to Teebo. They take over his guard duty in Tears of the Kingdom.

In Tears of the Kingdom, Thadd works as a guard in Lookout Landing on the east wall. He can often be seen looking out east towards where his family is.

He has a farming hoe now instead of a pitchfork, but keeps his farming outfit. It's unclear why he took up this job. We don't see anyone else from Hateno in Lookout Landing, so it's curious why he of all people decided to move. Perhaps he was concerned about Zelda, a resident in Hateno Village between games. Though, his son Teebo isn't old enough to attend the school. He also doesn't recognize Link, but plenty of Hateno Village residents don't.

Other fun facts include that his wife, Tamana, says she married into a poultry farm. So though Thadd doesn't mention anything about poultry or eggs, that is his family's business.

A Random “Breath of the Wild” Headcanon

At least one clever Yiga assassin got the idea to ambush Link in his own home.

Finding it was easy enough; the house had a sign bearing Link’s name displayed in the front yard, after all. Sneaking into Hateno Village while disguised was slightly less easy, on account of Thadd guarding the gate.

Even so, the assassin’s plan would have gone off without a hitch, were it not for one tiny detail. Or more accurately, two details, named Bolson and Karson.

While this particular Yiga was more clever than most, they still failed to realize that getting into a fight with two men who spend all day swinging Iron Sledgehammers around is a very, very bad idea.

Bart and Thadd are so cute! I couldn't help but make some avatars for them.

Not to make them so fucking alike, Bart has black eyes and Thad has blue eyes. Don't judge my sense of color please!
