Thai Cooking Class with Living Social
Sometimes we tend to get into the routine of things. And sometimes that's not such a bad thing. But for me... when it's been too long I've been in one routine, I begin to form an itch for something new, something different, something outside of the normal routine of things. So when I saw an offer on living social a few weeks ago for a Thai cooking class, I knew I had found a way to scratch my current itch... and of course I had to bring Poria along with me! ;) By now, you all probably know that I love to cook and experiment at home, so it didn't seem too surprising that I would have signed us up for a cooking class, of all things. We set out hoping to learn how to create and combine new Eastern flavors and learned so much more in the process: from simple but essential knife skills to actually cooking and creating delicious dishes that included an appetizer soup (more about that later!), panang meatballs, a chicken curry noodle dish and even a coconut milk and banana dessert! Ingredients were already labeled and measured out for us, so all we had to do was combine them while listening to the cooking instructor's directions, and then sit back and enjoy our food! The evening was spent socializing with good company over good food and was a fun change of pace for both Poria and I. Here are some of the photos of our night at the 918 F Street studio with living social learning how to cook Thai...
Stay tuned for my favorite recipe from the class: a hot and sour tom yum goong soup! PS - If Thai food isn't your thing, check out livingsocial.com for other types of food/cooking classes and other fun activities that they offer at affordable prices!
