Originally, I wanted to do a joint review for all those versions, but I quickly realized that there was too much to say about these dramas. I’ll do a general review about the four dramas and, aftermath, post reviews about the specifications of each dramas. Let’s say that this review is more a review about the story line and characters in general than a review about the dramas.

It Started With a Kiss (TW), Playful Kiss (KR), Mischievous Kiss (J) and Kiss Me (THAI) is a romantic comedy. The male lead is a talented student at the female lead’s school. He has a high IQ and the female lead is head over heels for him. When she confesses to him, he makes a fool of her and humiliates her. After a natural disaster, she loses her home and one of her father’s friend accepts to take them in. It happens that this very friend is the male lead’s father.

This review will be a bit different from the others, but, as always, I tried to put the less spoilers it was possible into this review, but, as always, stay careful while you read.

So, let’s start by reviewing the overall story before going into the specifications. It Start With a Kiss (all the four versions) have a really typical story. It’s something seen everywhere and a usual shojo (coz you know, it’s originally a shojo). It uses the concept of “love at first sight” for the female character while the male lead isn’t interested at all in her because he’s a tsundere. When she gets rejected, they forcefully meet again because of circumstances. The progression of the drama is fine, but quite cliché (because it needs to be that way to fit the genre), but it’s not bad. Even though there’s some back and forth in the story (mostly due to the fact that our favorite tsundere doesn’t want to admit his own feelings or can’t realize them), but it’s done in such way that it isn’t really tiring. There’s some lengths here and there into the drama, but it’s bearable. The story is quite funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time, so let’s stay it’s an emotional roller coaster. You get involved with the characters and don’t want to let them go. What kind of annoyed me with the story line was that there were way too much people on the leads (and they were, strangely, both way too popular). Also, it’s completely useless to watch all the four versions. Such practice is kind of tiring and repetitive, so I’ll suggest you to just stick with your favorite or just chose among the ones I will present.

So for the characters, I think it’s quite easy to anticipate what I’m going to write about them. The male lead is a tsundere. He’s cold and a real jerk. He likes to control the female lead and can’t stand the idea to be cast aside, even though he truly deserves such treatment. His progression, in the great majority of the drama, is fine, even though in some version he’s more developed and in others less. For what it is of the female lead, I just had the impression that each version tried to overcome the dumbness of the previous female lead. In short, she was stupid beyond belief. She was always causing issues, but she was somewhat likable. She, often, made the drama really cringy and awkward, but, overall, she was a nice character. But, I can’t omit that she’s a bit annoying because of how tenacious and easily jealous she is. The second female lead is a bit bothering in all those dramas, mostly because the female lead is so likable. She’s not a bad character or evil, she just keeps popping out of nowhere and ruining the main OTP and makes their relationship drags. For what it is of the second male lead, with no exception, he’s a sweetheart. In all the versions, he always take great care of the female lead and is absolutely adorable. Then, for the secondary characters, there’s a lot of them, but depending on the version, the importance of each increase or decrease, so I’ll just write about those who stay important in all the versions. First of all, there’s the male lead’s mother who is the funniest character and probably the one I got the most attached to. She’s a bit overbearing and overprotective, but she always make sure everything is fine and is one of the major adjuvant of the female lead. Then, there’s the male lead’s little brother. He starts as a really annoying kid, but through all the version he grows to be a sweetheart and probably one of the character who was the most involved in the leads’ relationship. Finally, the last one I’ll talk in this general review is the president of the tennis club. There isn’t much to say about him, but he’s probably the funniest character who isn’t overly dumb.

So, I’ll give an overall grade for those sections. The plot would be worth a 7/10. The characters a 2.5/5. And the tearjerker factor a 1.5/5.

Yup, I’m kind of in a BL pass. Don’t know why. It should pass quickly. Well not that I mind having such passes. It’s refreshing

Make It Rigth: The Series is a school romantic (BL) drama. The story basically follows a group of boys through the hardships and their questioning about their own sexuality. The drama starts by a drunken mistake, in part provoked by Fuse’s will to forget the fact that his girlfriend cheated on him, Fuse ends having a relation with his friend, Tee, which will bring him to question whether he’s more attracted to boys or girls.

So it’s been quite a while since I watched the lakorn, but I wanted to release the two reviews (since there’s two seasons) at the same time because why not! I can do whatever I want. I have to admit that I spoiled a few things in the review because there was no way to say absolutely nothing about what’s going on in the story. After all, I have to talk about the side romance. I’ll just say that if you don’t want spoilers about this series then you might prefer to skip this review (as always, there’s nothing too major according to me, but you might have the impression that I revealed too much about the lakorn).

I want to start this review by saying how awfully wrong the relationships are in the great majority of this lakorn. I mean, you can’t have consent from someone when they are drunk. Tee was sober, yet he still forced himself on Fuse who (even if he could have sobered up) never accepted to have sex with him. And this is so wrong. I know it’s something that’s often in dramas or movies, but that’s fucking rape and no relationships should start that way (personally, I think Fuse should have beaten the shit out of Tee, but that’s just my opinion folks…). But Tee x Fuse isn’t the only romance in Make It Right the Series. There’s also the lovely Book x Frame (who are quite cute, but I still gotta talk about how their relationship started, no hate on me, I ship them so hard even after that). And they meet up through a dating app (is that a spoiler? Who cares...) and ends up having sex. The thing is that Book clearly says that he doesn’t want to have sex with Frame, but Frame still forces himself on him. And another relationship that didn’t start well… But let’s pass to the story line review now.

The story is quite ordinary. There’s nothing exceptionally special in it. Most of the plot twists are quite cliché. It’s something seen everywhere, but it doesn’t mean that it’s bad. Mostly due to the sweet romance we can have from time to time, it’s a lakorn more than acceptable. Also, it’s quite a funny drama (because of the timing of certain things, you’ll understand if you watch, pay close attention to the conversations). Surely, it isn’t perfect, but it’s a good way to kill time. Through the lakorn there’s quite a lot of lengths due to the addition of some characters whose story are dragged (like Jean, oh god, I hate her). The progression of the story is fine (even with all the lengths), even though it doesn’t seem to reach its goal. The lakorn is constructed in such way that it doesn’t seem too empty. I guess that also the small quantity of episodes played a major role in this impression. What kind of surprised me (in nor a bad way nor a good way) was that it looks as if the whole school (or group of friend) turns gay at the same time. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that, but isn’t that just too unrealistic? I’ll just finish up by talking a little bit about the different stories (please bear with me that it’s been a long time since I actually watched the lakorn and I only rely on my notes at the moment, it’s possible that I’ll miss something). First there’s the main romance (Fuse x Tee) who is cute, but kind of goes back and forth and isn’t progressing much. And then there’s the secondary romance (Book x Frame) that is, in my opinion, way more interesting than the main one because there’s more progression in it and the characters really grow through their relationships, and they are kind of cute… like really cute… But that’s just me fangirling I guess (I ship them so strongly).

For the characters there isn’t much to say since they mostly grow in the second season, but even if I say that you shouldn’t omit that they undergo quite a lot of changes in the first season as well (it’s just less drastic than in the second season). The first impression I had of the characters was that they were really stereotyped and cliché (Book and Frame even make allusion to the terms Bottom and Top, which is kind of annoying). What’s more, the characters are also really childish in their beliefs and behaviors (but, at the same time, they are still in high school so can I really rant about that?). Fuse is kind of annoying because he kept going back and forth and is extremely indecisive (I understand that, but, at the same time, they abuse of it through two whole seasons), he just really bored me after a time. As much as I thought Tee was cute, I thought his devotion for Fuse was a little bit too much. Like he was too into him. He should have let go when he realized that things weren’t going his way. For what it is of Frame, he’s the perfect playboy, but, at least, you sense some change in his personality. And I won’t say anything about Book because the first season doesn’t really explain who he is. He’s just like a stranger who doesn’t talk much (and that is explained in the second season if you’re curious about it). For the rest of the characters, they play quite a small role in the first season, so I’ll let you discover them by yourself.

I’ll conclude here. I’ll do a second review about the second season since this review is already long enough. The plot of the first season would be worth an 8/10. The characters would be a 2/5. And the tearjerker factor would be a 1/5.

I don’t watch a lot of larkorn not because they don’t interest me, but, mostly, because I’m less used to hearing Thai so it’s a bit disturbing when I’m watching larkorn because I can’t understand words and sentences. Also because there’s not a lot of lists of recommended larkorn, so I feel a bit lost in this world full of drama T^T

Cubic is a romantic comedy with action following the life of Ruthainark (Nark). Her father borrowed money to a mafia from Hong Kong and, as a payback, he offers one of his daughter, Nantaka, to the chief of this mafia, Lin Lang Ser. But, Ruthainark’s father runs away with Nantaka leaving Nark behind as a payback. 

My review is a bit long (not that much compared to some others) because I really wanted to do a fair review since it deserved one. The only thing I’ll don’t talk about is the acting because I’m not qualified to criticize it. As always I’ll try to keep the review without spoilers, but stay careful.

I think the first thing I should say is that that larkorn is extremely long. Even though it only has sixteen episode, each episode is around a hour forty, which is enormous for people who are used to kdrama who, generally, are around one hour long, so to watch this drama you need a lot of concentration and patience because, seriously, the length isn’t worth it. It’s not really a good drama.

Secondly, I should just touch a word about this. Since it’s a larkorn involving mafia, it’s in their “shady” universe so there’s a lot of illegal things going on in it. It could bother some, but, personally, that’s a style that doesn’t displease me, since the stories that I find truly interesting are the ones that show all the cruelty and imperfection of the human beings. If such thing isn’t your cup of tea then, maybe, it would be better not to waste your time on this larkorn because there’s a lot of immoral actions going on.

Thirdly, I’ll just briefly talk about that. Since many people were a bit disturbed by the age gap between the Goblin’s characters, in this larkorn the girl is seventeen and the male lead is in his late twenties or early thirties. So if age gap disturbs you, you might not want to watch Cubic. And for those who think that’s it’s illegal, I’ll just say that, at sixteen, it’s legal to get married and have a sexual relationship with someone older, even though I vaguely remember that it might be only legal when the person is a few years older... Ah... I don’t know anymore. It’s not as if I study law... I give up on becoming a lawyer...

The plot of the drama is pretty simple and usual. When mafia is involved in the story, it happens quite often that the female lead is in debt towards them because, generally, of a parent that refused to pay back and is dead or has run away. Yet, it’s not that bothering, since I didn’t except more from the story line than this. I’ll say that it’s a cliché of the genre, but it could seem original for people who aren’t used to this type of story. The progression of the story is quite predictable, even though there’s a few plot twists here and there that I couldn’t see coming beforehand - or maybe it was due to the fact that I didn’t have enough concentration and missed something. Yet, the story is well-developed, so it doesn’t seem as if there’s holes inside the plot. The true problem of this larkorn, when it comes to the plot, is that there’s a lot of lengths, generally due to the choice of realization. I mean, there’s a lot of scenes in which there isn’t much happening and there’s a lot of what I call the “manga style”. In other words, a zoom on all the characters’ faces to show how surprised or suspicious they are, by example. I thought the montage wasn’t that good, the transition between some scenes didn’t seem quite right (but I’m talking from a very unprofessional eye). Also, I supposed that a good part of the lengths came from the fact that the drama is so long. Sincerely, I believe that if they had kept the larkorn to a one hour show, there wouldn’t have been so much lengths in the plot. I’ll finish by talking about something I thought I would never talk about: the images. I really felt as if the quality of the plot wasn’t reflected in how it was filmed and realized and there were some scenes where I thought that it just wasn’t right.

The characters are pretty usual for this type of story. As the plot, for people who haven’t seem a lot of drama of this type, they could seem a bit “original”, even though I find them more cliché than the plot. The female lead is a genius that always finds a solution to the problems who come in her way. I’ve seem such character many time, but I was glad that it was the female lead that was that way and not the male lead. After all, I have encountered too much resourceful, but dumb female lead to not appreciate Nark’s intelligence. The male lead is the typical stereotyped mafia boss: a cold man that doesn’t know how to love. He, also, shared cliché traits of character with the “normal” male lead, by example, he had a childhood trauma and was deeply affected by it. Through the story, I didn’t feel as if the two leads truly changed. Their love didn’t seem to make them evolve in any way, which kind of annoyed me, since I was hoping for a change in their personality, but it didn’t come. I didn’t especially like the second female lead, since she was way too clingy for her own good. I would have wished a little bit more individuality from her and a character a bit more developed that “I love him so much, even though he doesn’t love me back”. The second male lead is okay as a character, but there isn’t more to say about him. I don’t have much to say about the other characters except that the bad guy is kind of nice because he’s fooling everyone until a certain point and the viewer is informed that he’s the one behind everything so he can realize how evil the bad guy is. I’ll finish by simply saying that Nark’s father and sister are extremely frustrating. First, her dad does nothing to help her and acts in a really selfish way. Second, her sister just doesn’t seem to grasp the situation and seems kind of dumb.

It’s really rare that I pass such commentary at the end, but I’ll just do it this one time. This drama surely isn’t worth a rewatch and, sincerely, if you watch it, just skip some parts. It’s uselessly long and you won’t be missing much.

I’ll finish here because I feel as if this review is already long enough. The plot would deserve a 4/10 because of all the lengths in it, but the story line would deserve a 7/10. The characters would deserve a 2/5 because I didn’t feel as if there was an evolution. For the tearjerker chart, it would be a 0/5, there’s nothing sad in there.

YAY for me, just finished mt first ever LAKORN *applause*Suay Rerd Cherd Sod

I started watching this drama last Monday, took me a day to finish 10 episodes. Normally, I can finish an entire drama in a day ( i-am-such-a-bum) . Oh well, prior enggements were in the way so I had to wait  before I resume watching.

Thoughts:

This has got to be one of the funniest, entertaining and interesting drama I've seen. I knew from the first episode that I will grow to like this lakorn.

From the very beginning up until the end they manage to stick to the genre w/c is "Romantic-Comedy", there were touches of drama and action but just enough

You'll end up loving all the characters. They have this endearing factor that the more you learn and see them the more they'll grown on you.

They have a gazellion of adorkable-funny yet super romantic kisses or better called smacks. All throughout, if memory serves me right they have at least 8-9. the accidental kiss, the forced kiss, the occasional kiss.

The R-18 subtle green jokes were refreshing. I don't normally see that in Asian drama unless it is n the Philippines. With thailand's conservative beliefs -- it's so weird.

It took 7-8 episodes before their love progress. From the start they kept on bickering.

They have the most heartwarming soundtrack by Film Rattapoom. Coincidentally, this drama introduced me to the artist.
