Little picky bastard is currently in a period where I have to assist feed him. Will be trying again on some fish and see if he’ll eat willingly after a rest period from his last feeding. He’s impossible to force feed as he just regurges it back up, and I have to be careful how I cut his pieces. If he can’t easily spit it up he just regurges everything. 😑

Urgent: baby garter needs a home
I have just received a very sad submission to my reptile club’s adoptions. This hatchling checkered garter snake, who urgently needs a home.
It seems like the current keeper is a minor, and their parent is demanding that the snake be rehomed. The snake has only been in the keeper’s care for one week.
The snake is located in Oakland, CA, and I don’t know if it has a setup. The photo above is the only one that was provided.
If you are anywhere in the area and can take in and care for this tiny baby (and if you’re a minor, please for the love of snakes, ask for permission first!) -- anyways, if you want to adopt this precious noodle, hit me up on chat. She went missing for 4 months, and has still outsripped the other guy’s growth since she isn’t picky at all.
A very special trio I’ve put together. A dh albino checkered from a high green dam, an albino granite, and a dh albino and axanthic. Need to verify sexes, but excited to be working with the project to hopefully produce the first snows!

Upgraded the garter snakes’ enclosure yesterday! They’d been on aspen up until now, but using something so dry and dusty seemed less than ideal for semi-aquatic snakes. So now they’re on a mix of cypress mulch*, coconut coir, play sand, and sphagnum moss with a layer of leaf litter over top. I think I added too much sand, but we’ll see how the texture changes as it dries.
Pepper spent several hours exploring. Sugar thinks he’s an earthworm.
*I am aware of the horrific sustainability issues re: cypress, but I wasn’t when I bought this bag, so I’m using it up before I buy something else.
