September 2013 saw the start of the first ever #OffTheRecord BackStreet Party at Durban’s CoolRunnings on Milne street in the Point area. The Vinyl session has since become a lifestyle for lovers of good 90's music like me, thanks to the founders Ninja X (@Teabk) and RobThaBanka (@9115ivestyle).
#OffThaRecord Backstreet Party has expanded CoolRunning's from a home for only lovers of Reggae music to a space for lovers of hip-hop, Dance Hall, R&B, Soul, Funk, etc.

FRUITS and VEGGIES (Bio)
Five years ago
Fruits and Veggies first appeared in Umbilo, a working-class neighbourhood in Durban, South Africa and they have since earned themselves a reputation as one of the most refreshing and powerful live acts in the country.
The band is fronted by Purity, who’s unique and edgy vocals are backed by guitarist Jimbo (The Trees), bassist Loopy, guitarist, Cameron (Black Math) and
drummer I Am. Mahala called them "a one of a kind band, (with) solid songs, a derisive attitude towards conventions, a blistering stage presence and a really deep commitment to living life to the full. The most exciting post-racial, post-punk party band to come out of Durban since, uh, forever!" "
The band are Festival favourites, having appeared at South Africa’s foremost festivals such as Oppikoppi (alongside
Bullet for My Valentine, Enter Shakari, Eagles of Death Metal), Splashy Fen and Sowing the Seeds. Reviewing their Splashy Fen set, Lloyd Gedye wrote in the Mail and Guardian: "the most impressive of the bands was Fruits and Veggies... teenage rebellion Durban style, with some great catchy hooks and some fierce attitude."
Fruits and Veggies have an EP, "Ndaa" under their belt and are currently working on their debut full-length album. They also won a recording/music video deal at Interpret Durban 2012 in conjunction with Red Bull studios where they will be recording soon.
The band were the subject of a 12 page feature in Rolling Stone South Africa in October 2012 and were recently seen on Jam Sandwich, and also performed two times at the Kimberley Diamond Cup Skate Comp.
