So, for what I saw in the spoilers, is about the shortening of the telomeres. We grow old when the telomeres get shorter and shorter, this because of the replication of the cells, so this will cause the cells death, thus the organism.

So this is very linked to the half ghouls / half humans. Because I think is faster in them
