Short stories, novels, or poems?
I’ll read and analyze all of them, but short stories are my JAM (obviously.)
What genre do you prefer reading?
LOL when I do reading that’s not school-related I like thrillers, mysteries, and spiritual stuff. Anything that can keep my interest, really. But let’s be real, most of my reading these days is the fantastic fanfiction posted by amazing creators on this hellsite.
What genre do you prefer writing?
I weirdly enjoy non-fiction essay-writing, but I definitely prefer fiction. Nothing specific. I just like writing.
Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?
Definitely both. I have ideas of where things are going to go, and I’ll often do a vague outline of ideas so I don’t get stumped, but I don’t do anything too crazy so that everything will progress more naturally.
What music do you listen to while writing?
I often don’t, actually, I prefer TV or silence.
Books: I still love the Nancy Drew series, Narnia, so many Ted DekKer books, To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, East of Eden, and Murder on the Orient Express
Movies: the first 2 Captain America films, the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas film, Hercules, Tarzan, Meet the Robinsons, To Kill a Mockingbird, Narnia (NOT Dawn Treader), uh that’s all I have for right now
Yup. 4 for Sanders Sides and 6 for Soul-Eater lol
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?
If I’m leaving home, jeans, a long shirt or sweater, boots or flat slip-on shoes
If I’m staying home, leggings and a sweater
Create a character description for yourself:
She has almond-shaped brown eyes (though, of course, she insists they sparkle and are gold and green when the right light hits them), accented by creases from years of smiles. A small, round nose sits in the middle of her face above a decent-sized mouth with full (for a white person) lips and off-white, slightly crooked teeth. Her complexion is naturally rosy, though not blackhead-free, and she has a perpetual wrinkle on her forehead from years of being the reasonable one in her friend groups. Her hair is her favorite and most adored feature: long, brown loose curls that fall halfway down her back and take on golden highlights in the summertime.
Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?
I don’t explicitly incorporate people, but they definitely influences characterization.
Are you kill-happy with characters?
Actor or singer, if it didn’t entail the insanity of it all.
Coffee or tea while writing?
Neither, water is the best for me. Coffee makes me jittery, and I’m not a huge tea person.
Once I actually write, I get it done pretty quickly.
Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?
Life, mostly. Interactions with people. Sometimes music. Sometimes movies or TV.
If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?
I’ve always had a weird love of centaurs, but realistically I’d be a troll or something lol
Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?
LOL read my writing and you’ll know I’m a sucker for the healing power of affection. I like the realism in not having everything by magically fixed this way (see: But Love Brought Him Back), but I also love it for the right scenarios.
Characters that don’t grow or develop in significant ways because they’re so tropey that they’re not given the room to grow.
Downstairs or upstairs couch
Character redemption arcs
Most productive time of day for writing?
I never know, man. I never know.
Depends on what I’m writing. Sometimes it’s procrastination, stress-relief, venting, working out my own issues by proxy, or just because inspiration struck. I love the art and practice of writing and the craft of creating stories.
