Thanksgiving Day Annual holiday on the last Thursday in November, prior to Black Friday #ThanksgivingDay is a national holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada, as well as in some Caribbean islands, Liberia, and by American and Canadian immigrant communities in Mexico, Central America, and Israel. Originally, it was a day of appreciation for the harvest and for the previous year. Similar end-of-the-year holidays are observed in Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, and the second Monday in October in Canada. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has also long been celebrated as a secular holiday. Photo: #Thanksgivinggrace 1942.
