I’m drawn to most things hand-crafted or local or culinary ... and the Riverdale Orchard ticks all of these boxes. In addition to learning about the origins of the 2 Scots 3 Apples operation as we sampled their unique ciders, Alex kindly toured us through their very fruitful orchard. I’ve sailed past this building several times over the years, intrigued by the name and charmed by the logo, but never made the effort to slow down and explore. Well ... * Sarah, the ‘pie master’ at the @thehandpieco engaged us the moment we opened her front door * Delicious and interesting selection of homemade hand pies, both sweet and savoury with a great veggie selection * Frozen and ready to take home, plus we sat outside and enjoyed a couple that were hot out of the oven * A costumer even shared the tip of glazing the pies with whipped egg before baking (I can do that!)
