Once upon a time, a rancher named Hale Tharp was grazing his cattle in the Giant Forest. He needed a place to stay while he spent the summers up there, so he built a cabin out of a fire-hollowed sequoia tree with a fireplace and tables and shelves and all the comforts of home. It's there, just how he left it, and they call it Tharp's Log.
