i think what mu qing says here is true— because now xie lian and feng xin are basically peasants/laborers, they just haven't accepted that noble blood isn't actually worth anything. they still feel that there are tasks "below" xie lian's status, whereas mu qing knows that when you're starving you are forced to do anything people holding the purse strings ask you to do.
Getting real tired of finding out my dad doesn't listen to a damn thing I say, even when I don't notice. Like usually his lack of attention is pretty obvious, bc he stops actually responding etc etc
But earlier I was telling him I got an interview request from a place i put in for. It's actually with the pest control company we hire so I told he was gonna judge me when i said
and then i went on to explain that i know it might be hard work but that it would likely be less aggravating to my conditions bc it's strenuous yes, but it's not life-or-death, and i can take 1-3 minutes to take a breather if I need to etc and he seemed to be nodding along and responsive so i thought he heard and agreed
fast forward a few hours and we were talking about schedule and that the interview was a phone one but that they would likely want an in person and it dawned on him that it was a position directly in the field and not something at the desk etc. except i told his ass what the position was titled AND explained about it being strenuous etc, i thought you would've figured that out
i even asked him outright if he listened to a damn word i fucking said earlier. and he said he guessed not. YEAH I FUCKING GUESS MY GUY YOU DIDNT REMEMBER SHIT other than company name and 'i got an interview request' AHHHH *shakes him*
I've never seen someone with such love for a random Zora npc before but I'm a big fan of it tbh
*walks away with a suspiciously art-shaped throat :)*
noooo now i'm self concious about it .-.
in all honesty i just really need something to keep my drawing hand distracted AND is also completely unmonetizable, and what is less monetizable that drawing some random weird shaped guy eight billion times

i get that it's fun from a fan perspective and i'm not trying to disparge that, but I think analysis wise, trying to overly determine scientific understanding to the canon framework kind of. misses the lens through which the framework is asking to be understood in the first place.
it's in the name and what's associated w it. the literary canon which upholds a specific body of texts as worthy of acclaim. the 'canon' as used in a colloquiel sense in fan communities to talk about about what elements of a text are unquestionably certain. hell (though i'd personally say spiderverse probably isn't intentionally invoking this subtext), canon as law by which you are judged.
'canon' in spiderverse is specifically being utilised as a vehicle for the characters to question the purpose of suffering within their lives (and because they are characters for which these aren't imagined stakes, they place it within a framework of fate), and as the means to ask the audience to interogate why we we uphold particular elements or beats of The Spiderman Story as ‘legitimise’ that retelling
