Tips start here:
Find your study method
Not every study method will work for you, that’s okay. In fact, it’s completely normal! Try out different study methods and find what works for you. Using a pomodoro timer is really popular, but there is also blurting, Feynman, Cornell, and more. My favorite place for flashcards is gizmo!
Always be prepared
Always bring the things you might need in class, like pencils, erasers, calculators, a ruler, highlighters, a binder or folders, notebooks or loose leaf paper, laptop (if your school uses that), etc. You can also bring more personal things like a hair tie, lip gloss, a mirror, hairbrush, deodorant, earbuds, feminine hygiene products, a mini perfume, etc.
Dress appropriately!!
Never wear anything that isn’t allowed in your school’s dress code, if you have a uniform, always wear it. I’m not saying you can’t wear cute outfits or look good! Just make sure it’s allowed in your school.
Learn how to do a good presentation
If you’re incredibly awkward like me, presentations are a nightmare!! But they can be very important for your grade in a class, so it’s important to make sure you do it well. Try to speak slowly and avoid saying “like” or “um” too often. This video by Carl Kwan helped me a lot.
Create or routine or get good at time management
Time management is very important in school! If you want to be able to get all of your school and homework done while also making time for you, it’s important to have structure or plan. You can follow routines online (Simply Misha’s and Mira Daisy’s are good), but I think it’s better to make your own routine made just for you! My tip is to make it flexible for day to day life.
Romanticize it!
Romanticizing school is probably one of the few things getting me through it. You can watch shows like Gilmore Girls or From Me to You to help. Also, having playlists for things like commute or studying is so great for romanticizing school life! You can base your playlists off movie soundtracks, or do your favorites songs. Some people like to pretend to be the main character in a tv show, and if that helps you, go for it! Just please avoid trying to be the main character in others lives.
Find help
If you are struggling in a class, don’t feel ashamed to get a tutor. In the end, being embarrassed but passing a class is better than staying quiet and failing.
Don’t be too hard on yourself
It’s completely fine to not get perfect grades in every assignment. Sometimes you may have a rough time or not get the grade you expected, and that’s ok! Grow from your mistakes and know that you can and will do better next time!
