A bit of advice for today (aka me having a philosophical, existential crisis)
Take a picture of yourself. Take a picture of your room. Of your family. Of your friends. Take pictures of your hometown. Of the things you are proud of and the things you aren’t proud of but are undeniably part of you.
Record your voice. Laugh. Talk about your hopes, your fears, your stupid thoughts and the smart ones. Sing a song that means a lot to you, even if you don’t have a great voice. Be sure to put all your heart into it and tape it.
Now, you might think: “Why should I do that? I almost die of cringing when I look at my reflection.” Well, now you are.
Ten - Twenty - Thirty - Fourty - Fifty years from now, you’ll look different, you’ll sound different, you’ll think different. Then you might be going through some sort of self-finding crisis or purpose and personality issues. You might find yourself in a position where you find yourself to be ugly, old-looking, not able to do things you were to when you were younger.
Talk to your family. Play with your baby brother, at age 10 he might already be unbearable. Play games with your grandparents and listen to that story they always tell you about, you’d want your grandchildren to listen to yours as well right?
Keep your drawings, the good ones, as well as the “bad” ones. One day you might want to look back at those, remembering the emotions that went into that. Don’t be ashamed of expressing yourself to the public.
And please don’t wait for tomorrow.
One day, you might think you’d wanted to experiment with your imagination a little more or you’ll wish you’d taken that one little opportunity. Gone to that event, to that concert, on this roadtrip, to that party, to this musical, that play or this one movie you sweared you’d watch sometime else.
Read books you’ve always wanted to read. It’s like procrastinating to study an actually interesting subject and collapsing while crying the night before the test, while you discover that the topic was actually of your interest and now you don’t have any time left to endulge in it.
“One day - that’s not too soon, is it?” Wrong. Life is short. And that’s very scary if you think about it. So please, don’t waste your days. Don’t push it off to the last minute.
Live every day as if it was your last one by taking every chance, leaving traces behind for others to discover, leaving memories behind and stories to tell.
Strive to go down in history.
Carpe diem, everybody. Cheers.
